I think I would have to say 1967 was the most memorable year.

There have been lots of memorable ones, but that was the year we married, and moved to the US (and then up to Canada one year later).

Leaving the UK was probably the best decision OH made ................ and deciding to marry him after he'd made all the plans was the best decision I made. :-D

Life has been so good to us over here ....... we've achieved such a lot more than I ever dreamt I would, or OH thought he would.

Of course, there are some things I/we miss about the UK ............. but only a few :-) :-)

Oh - I am SO sorry Trace!!! My deepest sympathy to you and your partner.

What a terrible day to die for those who are left behind [well ....and not too good for those who die] as it will always be remembered on this day when we are all supposed to be cheery and happy!!!

My sister died about 10 days before Christmas - oh ages ago now [about 1980/1] but Christmas has never been the same for me since then. You dont forget!!!

Hi Dea - I do REALLY hope so.........

House going on the market within the next few weeks [I am told that folk start looking again come February!] and hopefully will sell fairly quickly [keep your fingers crossed for me] Once I have bought a new home I will be able to think about whether I want to fight for more [for the childrens sake] or save my sanity and just live my new life!?

I hope that selling the house wont be too dragged out!! :-S

Well i can't say adding to your question will stop the sadness.

For me it was 2011.... my family lost a Grandchild and a Grandparent.

Sadly my partner's father died on Xmas day.

....been a weird year for me :-S

Anyway - enough of the sad stuff - come on - what year was the most memorable for the rest of you???

lainie39

lainie39 Report 6 Jan 2012 20:21

Dea - if things hadnt gone the way they did then I would have said that the year of my marriage would have been a memorable year!! As it turned out - it is the year that I made the worst mistake I have ever made - and 2000 closely follows as the year that I gave him a second chance and tried again - I should have known.

Yes, the years my children were born will always be memorable but have been overshadowed by events.

Dont be 'sorry' I am not! I regret that my marriage didnt work out cos I got married 'for ever' but things change!! My divorce [actually] was a very sad event for me - but hey, life moves on!!! :-D

That is some story Sylvia - and how 'spooky' [to quote Dame Edna] to find out that your 'dream' was real and the reason it was all kept from you was because of family secrets??? Did it turn out that he was really your brother??

The snowdrops are coming up in my little front garden....I love 'em.

Most of my years are memorable Lainie....but not always for the right reason...... ;-)

Dea

Dea Report 6 Jan 2012 20:13

Sorry Laines, but for me - it was 1971 - the year I was married - closely followed by 1974 - the year my lovely son was born !!!

Sylvs........only you, OH and daughter know about that baby......and this lot too now! ;-) ;-)

Well done Lainie...........some bedtime reading for you then :-D

Dea....isn't LMA London Metropolitan Archives or something?

Have just taken daughter home..........it's horrible out there...all cold and drizzly and then I see a couple jogging along.........why??

Have just put my new avatar on. It's my maternal grandmother (the nice side of the family!) I'm guessing it would have been taken around 1920-ish.
