That's great, Dea

Insulation should make a big difference to your warmth.

so glad that you have had it done

Well, I am going to be snuggly warm tomorrow (I hope) !

The 'men' have been today and insulated my loft and put in cavity wall insulation!

They drilled hundreds of holes in all my outside walls and filled them with insulating woolly stuff!

That should keep me warm through the rest of the winter :-)

OOhh - that sounds like a lot of disruption Sylvia - I do so hate it when things have to change.

Hope your favourite coffee shop will not have to disappear <3

We're waiting to see what happens with our grocery store and pharmacy.

Safeway has got permission to redevelop its rather large site.

From having grocery store with pharmacy and liquor store, and above ground parking ................ we will be getting 3 apartment towers, 2 or 3 lower apartment blocks and townhouse combinations. The grocery store and liquor store will be moved to the front of the site (close to the main road). Parking will be underground.

We're in the "waiting for construction to begin" phase ........... trees and hedging on 2 sides of one corner have already been cut down.

Safeway and the liquor store are hanging on as long as they can before they have to close down.

The pharmacy section is believed to have taken over a small empty shop across the main road. The liquor store is believed to have taken over a much bigger empty store one block away ................ but no-one is admitting to this!

The grocery section will go for the 18 months to 3 years that construction of the new store is expected to take. We have to find somewhere else to shop for that length of time. It means a much longer drive ....... and of course, makes it that much more difficult for me when OH goes away.

There are lots of elderly, disabled, young mums, and people who do not have cars in the area ..... so it is going to be a huge disruption

And of course ....... Safeway has to hope that we all come back to buy groceries from them when they re-open

At least the necessary pharmacy and liquor store are still going to be available :-D

Oh yes ......... it seems that the main access to the new grocery store, underground parking etc will be via the lane behind the block of small shops to the north of the site. Which is where my coffee shop is.

Those small business owners are worried ................ a lot of their business comes from people dropping in when they go to Safeway.

Will the construction workers pop in for coffees, lunch, second-hand books, fresh fish or sushi, insurance, etc etc???

OH is due back late tomorrow afternoon (ca 5 pm at the airport) ....... we may have major snow tomorrow, tomorrow evening, or Friday :-0

He arrives back just 2 hours after he left Manchester :-D

Actually ......... that means it is a 10 hour flight from there.

His email said that everything went well yesterday ................ 300+ people at the service, family and close friends at the Crematorium ............. then a big wake at their favourite pub on the outside of town. It's a lovely place, in a very old building, and overlooking woods and water.

Yes....well......manic Wednesday again but peace reigns now!

Quite mild today but dampish - no good for putting washing out :-(

Had everyone for tea tonight and have just finished washing up.....strange how OH has a 'go-slow' spell at this time isn't it???

I took a prescription into Tesco today and the lady at the counter called me back and handed me two plastic duffel type bags??? Apparently they were full of freebies........when I got home I found they each contained: a bottle of vitamin detox water; a large dispenser for cleaning contact lenses; information on lowering your cholesterol and a box of WellWoman tablets...?????????

I kept the water and the rest I gave to my son to take home and distribute accordingly.

It got down to -6C in the backyard over night.

Official temperature is 1 or 2 degrees below that :-0

Got 1-2 cm of snow between about 8:30-9:30 am this morning .............. now it just has that "snow sky"

Keep that fire topped with fuel!

Good morning............

Hello Patchem, ...I wouldn't know a calorie from a kilocalorie to be honest....what's the difference? I still deal in imperial weights and measures and can visualise a 1lb of mince etc. but am lost with grams and suchlike. :-S :-S It's an age thing - anyway, nice to see you. :-D

There must have been something going on with maintenance for so many people to have trouble getting on here yesterday - I hope it sorts itself out soon.

Thank you for breakfast Sylvs.....your OH will be travelling back tomorrow won't he? Hope things went as well as can be expected yesterday.

Not sure what I am up to this morning so had better go and find out....

sign in -> log in -> sign in -> sign in

gave up.

tried again about 90 minutes later ................ same thing

so I googled GR, entered the site, signed in, everything fine

so I set up a new Bookmark

not even a single snowflake in Vancouver today ...... but it was cold!

There was a bitter wind where my physo's office is ........ at the north end of the city, much closer to the harbour and the North Shore mountains that where I live

and it is going to get even colder in the next 2 or 3 days.

Hi all,

See Gins you are doing well..and remember that they have the benefit of beng able to do hours of training, which in the real world often you can't do because you have to work, or take care of a family etc.

Persie sorry to hear of your loss. Hope the funeral is as nice as can be expected...

Still HOT here all through the night...lol I HATE the heat! There I feel better now!

Ginny I am going for my weigh in at lunch time today, am a bit nervous but hopefully it will be okay. :-)
