Just how many sauces do you have in your kitchen

Ive just got some of them (not all of them) out to have with veg burgers & salad

mayo plain
mayo garlic
salad cream
bbq
mustard
tom
hp
corn relish
chili tom relish
cucumber relish
yorkshire relish
vinegar

they're a meal on there own.........no wonder its hard to lose weight ;-)

I had a phone call today from a customer letting me know that the manager that I dealt with had died on Monday

One of my students who died three years ago, also worked along side this lady...how very sad, both too young and both so tragic

I keep meaning to look for quorn... don't hear of it much here.
Only recently seen quinoa and think I may get some...

With him not having meat on this diet of his I have only been having seafood or maybe something when I am out.. like Mrs Badger's mince pie. But will have a couple of rashers of bacon every so often.

We got lots of Quorn mince last night from Sainsbuys on offer for £1.50 a bag on multi purchase but its normally between £2.65- £2.90 a small bag

Will go and check the weight in a min

How much is Quorn then Ginns?

I pay £26.50 per kilo for my steak and If I went to the local Organic Butcher you could probably double that ! (That's why I only went there once ;-))

Is Quorn 'really' that expensive?

When I was at school the teachers thought I was odd because I only wanted veg!

Lucky for me we had a cafe/diner and could choose what we wanted to eat, there was always plenty of veg options....and they were always cheaper :-D

I love teaching at a particular college these days as they have fantastic veg options, lots of ethnic grub, plenty of it and cheap cheap cheap

One thing you dont get in foody places though is Quorn, I guess because its more expensive than the best steak :-(

Poor Renes.....I read your message last night on OH's Kindle but I was tucked up in bed and couldn't face clambouring around. I am a morning person not a night person........so any morning work and I'm anybody's :-D



Didn't know you knew so much about farming Persie! Or did you filch it from Wiki????


I bought some venison sausages from M & S which are still in the freezer. May try them this week.


We'll never convince Gins you know! She's stuck in a time warp wearing blinkers and earplugs :-P


Housework done and dusted :-D


Taking my friend out later so had better get showered etc. ready for some wheelchair pushing....... :-S

broiled grapefruit with brown sugar

Porridge with chopped up dates, bananas, and maple syrup (other fruit selections over there >>>> )

Selection of cold cereals

French (eggy) toast, maple syrup, Golden syrup
Caribbean Banana Fritters


Toast (sourdough, rye, white, whole grain, 100% brown, Hovis, gluten free),
raisin bread,
Danish,
cheddar chive rolls,



cheese and onion tarts,
broccoli and cheddar quiche,
Gruyere and bacon quiche


Thai-style noodles and shrimp,
stirfry (chicken, or vegetarian),
Chicken Karage (Japanese deep fried chicken pieces)
Chicken breast, bacon, tomato and lettuce on focaccia roll
spanikopita,


Potato, dill and cheddar soup
Butternut Squash and Roasted Garlic Soup with Caramelized Vidalia Onions (vegetarian)


apple pecan muffins,
lemon and nut muffins,
morning glory muffins,


jams, jellies, Nutella (hazelnut spread)


Tea, coffee, juices


(some bacon, turkey sausage or sausage patties, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, olive oil, in the hidey place to cook up for the very hungry ones!)

Milk fed veal is almost white meat... it is the best veal. We call the bobby calves still being milk fed.. sookies... and their hide makes very good soft leather shoes....

Gins does wear shoes doesn't she? Or does she "steer" clear of anything relating to animals.

If you can get HID to unpack my three suitcases that were dumped in my room two and a half years ago first Renes....There maybe something in there that fits me :-D

I was watching an interesting program called Kill it, Cook it and Eat it the other night persie. It was on the subject of Veal, now I am not a Veal eater but I could understand why this farmer sold them.

It was a Dairy farm and obviously the male calves were no good to them and they made more money being sold as veal it seems.

If we did'nt eat meat, what use would they be roaming around the countryside? They would die out I suppose

To maintain high milk production, a dairy cow must be bred and produce calves. ... Domestic cows can live to 20 years, however those raised for dairy rarely live that long, as the average cow is removed from the dairy herd around age four and marketed for beef.

Sorry if that is udderly incomprehensible to you Gins but it all about the food chain... If we left them all to die at around 20 years where would we put all of these dead cattle.. we have enough problems with rubbish contaminating the planet now. So people that eat meat are helping with recycling. The lions, leopards etc cull the zebras and wildebeast etc and the Hyenas and vultures eat the left overs...

I was under the impression a cow had to have a baby cow to produce milk, otherwise it would be a heifer
