Oooh Catherine, I wouldn't call 19,000 a small tree! Mine is only around 1,300 and jax has one with very few on it if I remember rightly.

Have you been able to verify that all details are correct on each line?

My tree turned into a jungle a long time ago. Not just my lot, but OH's on there too. Both of us have rellies who emigrated all over the world. Many of mine went to Utah, the men had multiple wives and tribes of children.

On the non-Mormon side of things....... my grandad was one of 17 (yes, seventeen) children. I've only found 15 of them (at least 6 died as infants).

I'm descended from an illegitimate child of a Bishop........... who married his mistress many years later, so his children could inherit titles & money! None of the titles or money passed down my branches lol

My GR tree is the "small" one with almost 19,000 names. I have nearly 2,000 names on my contacts list. Don't ask how many on my own software!

There are much bigger trees than mine on GR. Need a map to navigate them.

You have quite a large tree more than a few thousand don't you Catherine? How do you find the new format with having a large tree?

Tec has a dongle, Allan, Carole and I got the giggles when in the middle of a morning's (my morning) conversation he said from out of nowhere "my dongle has a blue light on it."

I had to go and google.. I had never heard of it and then I saw the sketch on youtube with Ronnie Corbett at the fruit shop.

Even getting on here has been slow for me of late so I play freecell while I wait and I have been known to finish it before GR arrived.

Following on from the bank thing...It is a long while since I worked for one and debit cards were a new thing with a maximum of £100 at that time anyway.

About a year ago I had someone get hold of my debit card details online and tried to use it...card was stopped which was a pain as it was my main account, but a new one issued.

I decided that I would use my spare account for online use which I only kept a balance of approx £100 in that way if it happened again they could not get away with much and it would not affect my everyday use.

I upgraded my anc*stry subs the other week and they took the money, but they said there was a refund of £7.95 which I was surprised about as it was only for one day. I checked my bank accounts and the £155 came out of the no 2 account but the refund went to my main account, as I had only given the card details how did they know my bank details? that card was stopped, so it could not be credited back to it....very strange

dongle is not a word that is used over here in Canada. I've asked several people, in and out of the industry, and they just look at me blankly!

obviously none of youse is really from Liverpool, where the following was commonly used among students .....................................


"The angle of the dangle is proportional to the heat of the meat.'

or 'The angle of the dangle in relation to the angle of the tunnel.'



only I almost invariably see dongle as dangle.
