I can agree with that Ginns !!! <3

Sylvs - I know exactly what you mean.

My husband went to his usual 'barber' a couple of months ago and came back looking AWFULL !!!

This AWFULL state lasted for several weeks until it had grown out enough to have it cut 'properly' again

That one was in the same place but with a different person and, I have to say, was much better, BUT not very good!!

I just wish he would go to the person I go to - she also does male and female !!

OH has just phoned to say he is going to have his hair cut on the way home

He's often complained about his barber ................ but especially over the last 18 months or so, when the barber went on "holiday", leaving a locum to take over .......... he has still not returned, and the locum just cannot cut OH's hair

....... it has to be cut just right or he ends up with bits sticking up all over the place :-)

For years, I've been suggesting he try the girl I go to .............. she does both men and women.

He finally tried her just before Christmas, when he could only have a "tidy-up trim" because his hair had to be as long as it could be for the February opera. She cut it just as he wanted!

This is now his 3rd visit to her ....................... he loves the way she does his hair, no "sticky-up" bits ....... and .............

................. it's cheaper than he was paying at the barber's :-D

Think I preferred Virgin to Sky, but unable to have it here as there is no cable.
My dad has Sky but not able to record...mum records everything with VCRs and refuses to have Sky and cannot get on with these other systems that will record freeview ect

Okay Margee........where are you hiding? Come out, come out wherever you are ;-)

OH is exhausted with trying to fathom out the remote control for Sky. 13- year old grandson picked it up and tapped away no problem! OH has given up and gone to sleep :-D

Hi Everone,
Hello Margee :-)
I have only started posting on here myself but have been popping in and out for a while. As others on here have already stated this site has helped some of us through rough times even though we werent posting myself included. Some silliness helps lighten the days long may the thread continue!
I am now going to get my glad rags on as No 1 son and girlfriend are taking myself and OH and her Mum out for a belated Mothers Day meal. Pop in later

Gins........it's a parking problem which I can't fit in with because of my home circumstances. I need to be able to have easy access to my car in case OH comes a cropper etc. The hospital wants us to park in a multistorey in town and get a shuttle bus up to said hospital. It's just not feasible in my circumstances.

Jonesey.....although I realise that not all staff members value the volunteers, I haven't really come across any negativity myself. It was the VS manager who mentioned that some staff weren't keen on volunteers being allowed to park on the main car park. I usually tried to park in an out of the way spot so that patients could park nearer the doors but.............. :-S

Gorgeous day here today........ :-D :-D

Jonesey Report 20 Mar 2012 08:30

Car parking is a very emotive subject which often leads to feuds between neighbours, family members and work colleagues. In your case Cyn it would appear that it has resulted in those who you were keen to help suffering as well as yourself.

Without knowing the full circumstances it is difficult to comment but what I do know is that volunteers such as members of the WVS and others are vital to the efficient day to day running of lots of hospitals. Their non-medical assistance such as staffing on-site shops, refreshment facilities or simply providing comfort to patients and visitors frees up medical staff to carry out the duties they are trained for. Perhaps at your particular local hospital the value of that has not yet been fully appreciated.

Gee

Gee Report 20 Mar 2012 08:19

Cyns

Why do you not go to the hospital on a Tuesday, I cant remember reading why?

And, if volunteers are doing just that, then surely they can have a parking space..........gowds sake

Dea

Dea Report 20 Mar 2012 08:05

Of course he loves you Cynths :-D <3

Such a shame about the hospital work and SO senseless ! Surely without you volunteers to help the patients the staff will have extra work to do so they are very silly to complain ! OR, more likely, the patients will just receive a lot less help and attention :-(

My word, Jonesey was up with the lark this morning and I see he has his erudite head on again.... :-D

Thank you for breakfast Sylvs....I now have sticky fingers 'cos of the marmalade..... :-S

Good to see you have a Neighbourhood Watch system in your area Gins..... ;-)

On the odd occasion, I have seen the woman from across the road run out to her car in her pj's. A quiet road is one thing, but ours is a main road! :-S

I nipped to the local shops on Saturday morning and came back to find that a car had gone into the reverse of another just near our house. OH was in a state as he had heard the bang and thought I had been hit as I turned into the drive!

It was only a minor incident and no one was hurt, but it gave OH a fright......I fink he loves me ...................awwwwwwww <3

I do miss not going to the hospital and keep thinking of all the people I used to chat to. The Voluntary Services manager phoned me yesterday to thank me for the last 9 years service I have given - I think she feels bad about the car parking situation. Some staff have objected to volunteers parking on the main car park it seems :-S

Nowt so queer as folk as the saying goes..........that's why I'm on this thread.........daft as a brush like the rest of you! <3
