Mates rates cheap Gins................
Jonesey, I remember your earlier story and started looking at some of my tree 'contacts' on A. I gave up after a while out of sheer frustration as I really couldn't be faffed with contacting people who have been stupid enough not to check they have the right people. I must have been in one of 'those' moods...... :-D
It may just be a case of collecting names (prize for the biggest tree), but the alacrity with which some folk add any old piece of info to their tree stuns me.
Got OH out for lunch today after we had a surprise visit from some folks we worked with a few years ago. A nice morning all in all.
Now I don't have to cook and can play around on here, there and everywhere to my heart's content..........I am easily pleased as you can tell. :-D

Postscript.
Those with good memories may recall that a short while ago I posted that one of our colonial cousins had made a "slight error" by assuming that one of my ancestors born in 1884 in Staffordshire was the father of one of their ancestors born some 16 years or so earlier in Tennessee. I pointed out the error of their ways by sending them a message. My message also requested that they remove my ancestor, his parents and siblings from their publicly accessible tree on Ancestry before some other hard of thinking person copied the inaccurate information.
I did not receive any reply but my message obviously got through because within 24 hours I noticed that my ancestor had been removed. His parents and siblings remained however amongst the list of persons in the tree although now entirely disconnected from the tree owners ancestors. So initially I was satisfied however a few days later I spotted that the tree owner was still downloading census records relating to my ancestors parents and siblings who did not have any place in the tree. It certainly looks as though the tree owner is just another name collector.
Trying to put a positive spin on things I did some research into the background of the lady who was born in Tennessee. I easily discovered from the US census records in 1870 and 1880 who her father really was. Further research revealed her parents marriage on 12/9/1854 in Wilson County, Tennessee and found earlier (1850 and 1860) US census records for her father together with the 1840 US census record for who I believe to be him and his parents. I relayed all that to the tree owner but as yet no response has been received.
Now I suppose the question is, if I, living in the Midlands could easily find such information why did the tree owner, an active Ancestry member who actually lives in Tennessee not find it or couldn't they be bothered to look for it?
The mind boggles.

I ended up going back to supposed page 4 which was a few days ago am now on page 1 which is 29th March!!! We had grandaughter at the beach in Troon on Monday to give her daddy time to do some work around the house on his day off! It was 20C not a breeze and she walked the whole length of the promenade. She is Minnie Mouse mad and a woman walking in front of us was calling her dog it just had to be named Minnie! The wee one was shouting Minnie Minnie the poor wee dog didnt know if it was coming or going it was so funny :-D my youngest son was 24 on Tue and we were on duty with grandaughter again on Wed and again went to troon she played with her bucket and spade for ages and didnt want to come off the beach. Today was food shop but we have been really lucky with the weather this week will really have to do some housework tomorrow! Its been quiet on herre is everyone out enjoying the weather? You never know this might be our summer!!! Going to bed now will try again tomorrow. Night Night all
