Oh to be in England now that spring is here.

It has just started to snow in Birmingham. Large flakes are falling which are already beginning to settle on the rooftops.

Thanks for trying I have my Uncles BC , MCx2 and DC. I also have a copy of the obituary. I couldnt attend his funeral as my mum phoned me to say he had died (he was my godfather and gave me away on my wedding day) i went into labour with my 2nd son and he was born the day later.
i was just hoping someone had an idea of how to contact the solicitor d/w his will - wish I had thought of this b4 my Mum and Aunt died(his sisters) as they d/w all arrangements and then left it to the solicitor to find the son but they would have known who the solicitor was
as far as I know he stayed in Scotland think glasgow but dont know for sure. I think I have checked with the owner of the tree b4 will check my notes but thanks for your effort much appreciated :-)
SP no good until I get to the records office in Edinburgh as cant view DC online unless its more than 50 years ago he died 1981.

gins good timing on getting the boiler fixed when mine died it was in the middle of the really bad snow and it took 5 days to get it repaired you could see your breath in the air inside!!
I went mad baking today gingerbread carrot cake coffee biscuits and mars bar cake.

I have had a boiling hot shower, all the rads are on full and house is warm and cosy :-D

Only trouble is, I offered to pick JB up from a late meeting, so will have to go out about 9ish.....................into the cold :-(

Hi all

Wedding was great.

Instead of a wedding cake they had a tiered stand of











pork pies.
Cut and served as a starter.
Groom played football with the tiny children.
Bride played cello/
Then a ceildih.
Then a band.
Groom and best man played trumpet.
Sunday spent time with family and Monday morning drive home.
Quick repack then take him to hospital.
Get home and a phone call.
Cannot find his notes so cannot admit him.
He comes home in a cab.
Called back in at lunchtime ready to start bowel prep rather later than planned.
Op is tomorrow.
Do not know the time yet.

Just waiting for hubby to come back from the Dentist...........

He has gone to have 4 teeth taken out and he is absolutely PETRIFIED of the Dentist !!!

Apparently, they have to hold him down as his arms and legs 'flail about' uncontrollably !!! :-(

He wouldn't let me take him in and insisted that he would go on the bus as he always goes to town on the bus now he has his bus pass !!! :-(

I will be glad when he is home !!

I HAVE been looking, honestly, buit I am afraid I am sadly lacking in expertise on Scottish matters !!

Scotland People is the website for Scottish research but it is pay to view only :-(

I can only suggest that you put up a thread asking about how to trace Scottish Wills.

In England, they have to be 'proved' through 'Probate' - Find out what is the Scottish equivalent?

Also, you might try contacting the 'local' paper to see if there was a death notice or obituary at the time? - the local library might hold copies of the papers and be able to help??

There is one person on this site with a Robert born in Scotland at that time but she doesn't seem to have John in her tree so maybe it is not the same one, but worth a try to contact her?

Do you know if Robert stayed in Scotland?

I do wish you the best of luck, I know I personally would be very excited to receive photo's of my relatives.

Hi Everyone,
had porridge again this morning being really good woke up to snow!!!!
Hard to believe that last week we had GD at the beach!!
Dea (or anyone else) have you any thoughts on the posting about my uncles will?

The children had a lovely day yesterday, we took them to the little airport to watch the small planes and helicopters taking off and landing, then on the way back we called in at a Heritage Park and they had great fun in the play area and just generally running around.

They were both exhausted when we got home and so was I !! :-(

So.....an early night for everyone :-D
