Sounds like you had a good time Sylvia - that is a very sensible way to hold a Dinner Party for friends.

When you do all the cooking and serving yourself, you can't fully enjoy the evening and you miss half the conversation. You do get the added pleasure of seeing people enjoy what you have made for them though.

Good morning all !

I had a little 'lie-in' this morning :-D

Well Ginns, it seems that you got to it first today - luckily you have gobbled up all the things I wasn't going to eat anyway! ;-)

Plenty of lovely goodies left for me...... AND that gorgeous lunch to look forward to.

Thank you Sylvia <3 <3

We were away Thursday until Friday evening ........... our best friend's 80th birthday party!

16 of us sat down to dinner at his house, all organized by his wife. And she was very bright ..........

........ she had it catered, and rented all the dishes and glassware.

So the caterers did all the cooking etc, served it all, cleared everything away, put all the dirty dishes in the crates ready for the rental company to pick them up the next day, put the "owned" dirty items in the dishwasher, bundled up all the dirty linen .................... and J could enjoy the party as much as everyone else!

We had a lovely ferry ride back on Friday ............ the sun was shining, and the mountains were in clear view with snow on the tops.

We did have a slight problem getting from the ferry to Vancouver ..... and we had J's brother and his wife with us, taking them to their hotel.

It was the second game of the ice hockey playoffs .......... so there were traffic jams going into Vancouver as well as coming out :-D

OH turned off the main highway, and we went east some distance through the countryside, seeing some lovely farms and wineries, to get to the next but one bridge upriver :-D

It probably took us an extra 15-20 minutes, which was a lot less than we would have spent stalled in traffic trying to get through the tunnel under the river!

C

just make sure that there is nothing, and I man NOTHING between those firemen and the front door ............

........... if an alarm comes in they will leave in a hurry!

Anything in their way will find themselves out on the front drive before they know what has happened! :-D

Yes Dea.......really horrible to think about it isn't it?

Those in charge were supposed to have made safety alterations to the course but..............

:-( :-( :-(

Dea

Dea Report 14 Apr 2012 19:48

OOOhh Cynths - were there really 2 horses killed??

That is SO cruel - I think they should put a stop to it! - It's like bear-bating and the old dog fights etc. They were banned weren't they?

I suppose there is too much money at stake nowadays for them to take any humane action :-(

OOOerrr !! - I think that one of my molar teeth has 'given up the ghost' :-(

I suppose I had better ring the dentist on Monday and see if he needs to take it out .............. ouchhh ! :-(

Still, I have all the rest left so it's better to do it now before it gets to be a problem I suppose?

Maybe the relations he had with that nurse were second cousins three times removed Gins....... :-D

Lainie, anytime between 7.45 and 9pm apparently. Have already warned one set of neighbours so had better get round the others tooty-sweetie!!
You can have the pick of the bunch - I've got enough probs thank you ;-)

Went up to see granddaughter on her birthday and found one very dejected son - Everton lost - and that the Grand National was about to start. I took myself off into the conservatory until it was all over. Sounds as though 2 horses were killed......such a waste.... :-( :-(

Earlier, I googled the name of a cottage where I think my gt.grandparents lived in Kent. They were just the usual labouring family with loads of children. I found what I think is it. It was for sale last year at a staggering £800,000!!! Mind you, when I looked at the pictures, it had been gutted and poshed up big time! Just need to confirm I have the right place and I will add the pic to my tree on A.

I was engaged to a London fire man, when they had hook ladders back in the 80s

He was very cute without his uniform, but right up his own #### I never married him, but kept the diamond!

He was sacked....................having 'relations' on the staition with some nurse :-0

I am DEFINITELY interested in Cyns firemen!!!!! :-D It just so happens that I am not at work on Monday either :-D

What time are they coming over Cynthia??? [have I got time to have my face, hair, nails done before they arrive?? ;-)]

[oohh - just the thought of big strong men in rubber boots and braces! ... calm down!!!]

[knowing my luck they will be fire 'people' and all turn out to be female!! :-S]

Dea

Dea Report 14 Apr 2012 13:50

Cheeky Ginns!!! :-P

(OOhhh - I have never used one of those 'tongue-pulling' avatars before - It feels quite exhilarating !! ;-)

I will have you know that I am not in the least bit interested in any of Cynthia's 'hunky' firemen. - I have my own 'hunk', I have had him a VERY long time and I still 'lubs' him ! :-) :-)

Dea, what are you doing hiding in the pantry................the fire men arent coming until Monday evening

..............................go home and get yer beauty sleep, you'll never pull looking like that!

Dea

Dea Report 14 Apr 2012 12:50

Do they still fit free smoke alarms for you where you need them Cynthia?

I have all my smoke alarms already and they are linked up so that if one goes off they all go off - it is quite ear-splittinging when they do that !

Unfortunately, the one I have in my downstairs hall, just outside from the kitchen really does not like toast or bacon.

It doesn't react to anything else in the same way but whenever I cook either of these I have to make sure the adjoining door is closed or it sets them all off screaming, even if is is nowhere near to even thinking of burning :-D :-0 :-(
