Thanks for the memories Jonesey ;-)

Won't post anything in case Sylvs wants to have a go!

I used to listen to No.3 if ever I was off school poorly.

Don't listen to the radio much nowadays but can remember the excitement of Saturday Night Theatre.

The only music I like on radio is Classic fm to be honest. Can't listen to it at home much but like listening in the car.

Taking daughter home soon then it's jama time.... :-D

I must say Jonesey I am pretty good at quizzes as I watch them all on tv, but could not answer any of those....yes before my time, but never had any interest in lisening to anything on the radio unless it was music, maybe thats why?

It is a dull and dreary Bank Holiday Monday with not a lot to do so my mind drifted back to simpler times when radio provided peoples entertainment. Just for fun have a go at answering these questions all relating to popular radio shows in the 1950's.

1) What was the presenter of Childrens Hour known as?

2) Who was the famous brother of Elsie (Alias Gert) and Doris (Alias Daisy) Waters?

3) Whose playtime was at 12:30pm on weekdays?

4) Who did Wilfred Pickles tell to "Give him the money ??????"?

5) What was Billy Cotton's catchphrase?

6) What was Eth's boyfriend Ron's surname?

7) Whats is the name of the theme tune used for the programme Dick Barton - Special Agent?

8) What programme began with this announcement, "The time in Britain is twelve noon, in Germany it's one o'clock, but home and away it's time for"

9) Who was the husband of its London announcer who she met via the programme?

10) Who was the resident singer on a 1950's radio show starring a ventriloquist's dummy?

No prizes I'm afraid and those too young to have been tuned in to the radio in the 1950's can always Google.

Just made some rather nice chicken liver pate !!!

There is half an inch of red wine left so I MUST drink it at some stage but you all know what it does to me so I will wait until just before I go to bed I think, just to save any embarrasment ;-)

Hubby just 'LURVES' my pate !!! :-D :-D

Look at the time and I've only just got 'ere!

Not a particularly peaceful day here but, hey ho, par for the course sometimes.

Going back to underpants.........grandson has now started with the droopy look and yes, showing the underpants is part of looking good :-S :-S

Dea, 'designer' anything is goods which bear the name of the person who designed them. You usually pay more for 'the name'. I rarely buy anything 'designed' simply because a) I can't afford it or b) I refuse to pay extra for something just because it has 'a name'.

LK - glad you had such a good weekend :-D <3

We don't do holidays anymore but my OH could probably fit his stuff into a carrier bag :-S

Shucks....thought I'd hidden that fruitcake.............

Sorry LK. I came in through the revolving door, got caught up in Dea's trolley and went zapping into the broom cupboard..

It's okay Cyns I have found where you put the rest of the fruit cake...

Hello LK - I didn't see you there :-)

Glad you had a good time with grandson yesterday. - It does sound very tiring though.

Good job that you two have the day off today to recover.

Now that's a strange one Sylvia...........

"Banana Pecan Pancakes, served with maple syrup, and choice of bacon, ham or breakfast sausage"

I think I will give the pancakes and syrup a miss and have the rest with some of your excellent home-fried potatoes with garlic and bacon

They might have been nice for pudding but I have to go with those delicious Caribbean Banana Fritters drizzled with surup.

Glad you had a good trip (minus half your wardrobe !!) but it's nice to have you back, although I must say that Persie looked after us extremely well in your absence.

See you later,

Dea Xxx

What a spread Sylvia. I am first in the queue so the others will have to wait whilst I try to make up my mind.

We had a brilliant day on the train but we are tired. Three and a half hours each way by train and 6 hours with grandson.

Worth it though and rest day today.

Persephone Report 7 May 2012 08:03

I have just had falafels and salmon for my tea so I think I will follow up with

Banana pecan pancakes with maple syrup and will put some of my Hokey Pokey ice-cream with it.. hmmm wonder if I should pour a liqueur over that..
