Laines,

How lovely to see you <3 <3 <3

Glad that things are looking up for you at last - It must be very relaxing for you to have the house to yourself (and the 'children') at last !!

Hope you get a buyer soon and find yourself somewhere nice of 'your own' , with no 'ties' to the past.

Often think about you - nice to know that you are on your way now to a new beginning.

Love,

Dea Xxx

Sounds like you have been having an exhausting time lainie -- don't go overdoing things -- or you will be walking like that permanently... :-D

Even I knew that kaolin & morphine hadn't been available for simply ages. Mind you, I think a certain drink looks and smells like it ---- B*****s. We always used to have some in the house cos my mum used to get the odd migraine - and it worked too!

Can't get camphorated oil either. :-(

I always want to sing that old song when someone mentions camphorated oil...

Camfer-amfer-amfer-ated,
Camfer-amfer-amfer-ated,
Camfer-amfer-amer-ated,
so we'll rub it with camphorated oil.

Ta....dum.

OH had to clear a drawer out from under the bed due to the impending arrival of the equipment. One of the things he turned out was a plastic mac (still in its original packaging) from about 60 years ago.

Honest to goodness.....it's the sort of thing you imagine a 'flasher' wearing. On the packaging it says 'plastic garment.....each seam electronically welded".

He will never wear it again (thank goodness) and offered it to our son who, with rolling eyes, politely declined.

Then, up pops 13-year old grandson.....
"what's that?"

"It's a mac" says I.

He looks at me questioningly and asks

"what's a mac - it's the name of a computer brand"?

He then went on........"It looks like something an astronaut would wear".

As he left, he commented that they wouldn't be taking the 'space suit' with them........ :-D :-D

Don'tya just love them......

:-D

Hi Sylvia!!!! Thanks for cooking my eggy bread for breakfast!!! I thought you may have forgotten about me!! :-(

Not been on GR much lately - had too much to do! - but tried to keep up with everyone on FB! :-D However, this excludes Dea - sorry Dea I see that you have ventured onto FB, but only briefly!! I hope you are well?

I hope you are all OK and hope to post on this thread more now that I have finished the decorating that REALLY needed doing! It is difficult when you are working full-time to fit it all in - anyway.....enough of all that!!

An update for you all... my ex left when I had the 'for sale' board put up and I have been 'free' for about 3 weeks now [doesnt feel much like it though at the moment as I have had so much to do..but....it will do shortly!!! I still have my son and daughter at home [well, when they are actually in the house cos they have social lives unlike me!] but apart from them, on the whole I really like like living on my own [if that makes sense?]

Only had one offer of a view at the moment - and after cleaning and packing stuff away for 7 hours - they cancelled an hour and half before they were due [just as I was about to put away the hoover and rubber gloves!!] but the house has stayed clean and tidy since then so that enabled me to carry on with decorating!

I am bolloxed - in a word - I have muscles aching that I didnt know that I had! I am walking around like I have had an accident in my pants!!! lol I am sure that it will all be worth it in the end!????

Pers......point me to that supermarket ;-)

Persephone Report 15 May 2012 10:46

When I have a cold I buy a bottle of Gees Linctus.. it is an opiate ... no problem

We did have a problem a few years ago with one of our Chinese supermarkets selling some medicine that had more alcohol content than anything sold at the wines and spirits store... they did not have a licence to sell alcohol..

I think they have lots of stuff in that place in the medical section and even in the food additives that you don't know what it contains.

Jonesey Report 15 May 2012 08:54

What, kaolin & morphine not sold any more, the worlds gone mad.

What next? Indian Brandee only available from premises licensed for the the sale of alcohol? Proof of age required before you can purchase a packet of wine gums?

The lunatics really have taken over the asylum.

Gee Report 15 May 2012 08:41

I'll take one poached egg and shove it on some toast..thanks Sylvs :-D

Equipment not much use Cyns :-( Still, glad hes coping better on the new meds :-)

No2 son was in bed all day yesterday with a sickness bug. After emptying the bucket I went to the pharmacist, she said there is lots of it about. I asked for a bottle of kaolin & morphine, she said it’s not sold anymore, due to people 'drawing off' the morphine:-0

So, a packet of ginger snaps and a bottle of lucozade instead!

Thank you Sylvs - I'll try the Transcontinental as well please. Sounds wonderful.

Have a lovely time at your dinner - and with the physio :-D

OH had some 'equipment' delivered yesterday.

A seat to fit over the bath

- but it didn't.

A 'grab' rail to be attached to the bed

- but it didn't really help.

A raised loo seat

- now in a drawer under the bed because he is coping quite well since the new meds. It will be needed at some stage though.

Ah well, the neuro-physio nurse is coming in a couple of weeks so we'll see what she says. Have a feeling it will have to be an adjustable bed...

:-( :-S
