Just heard on the radio - the Queen & Co have been visiting Accrington Market today - That's not too far away from Cynths so perhaps she has gone to say 'hello' ??

I hope she has because 'queenie' never carries any money with her so if she wanted to buy a little something' 'One' would not have the money to pay so 'One' may well need a 'sub' ............

The dinner was enjoyable ... good food. Although it was a little drawn out because of the numbers being inducted into the 25 Year and 35 Year Clubs.


It took about an hour for the 25 year ones ...................... thank heavens that not all the 66 inductees attended the dinner, or we'd still be sitting there now! :-0


I only agree to take OH to it when there is someone we know being inducted ........... tonight there were 2. Otherwise, I just cannot be bothered!


I know very few people from "on campus", because the Garden was always sort of "off to the side", both literally and figuratively.

What a day!!


First, there was the problem with the traffic accidents ..... but OH came home and took me to physio


THEN ..................... there was a power outage!

The physio was about half way through an ultrasound treatment on my back when there was a little click, the room went dark, and silent!

Matt stood there for a few seconds holding the "wand", then I said "I think the power has gone out", and he agreed :-D


The physios all continued to work, although they couldn't use any electrical equipment, had no computers, etc etc.

The outage affected 2 big buildings, each with retail on the ground floor, 1 floor of offices, and 2 floors of apartments.

The businesses on the other side of the road were not affected ............ so the little cafes, coffee shops, etc were doing a roaring business with all those who had to leave their offices!


The power was still out when we left the area about 2 hours later.


There were rumours that an electrician (or maybe a man from Hydro) had been doing some work in the building




What was amazing was how silent it was when all the machines were off. I never realised how much background noise there was!

talking of camphor... just recently whenever I went out the front door I could smell camphor.. I started sniffing my clothes and thought no I don't think it's me.. OH couldn't smell it (useless as a bloodhound).

A few days later painters were working on our house and one of them said to me can you smell that "strong" camphor smell ??. he hates the smell of it.. it was around one side of our house and so we walked down neighbour's driveway.. I think they must be bathing in it.. They are Japanese .. wondering if it is customary for them to use it a lot.

I like Irish Moss as well as Gees Linctus.. Used to buy Irish Moss jubes... hmmm

Pakamac, Cyns????



I worked one summer at the Pakamac factory in Oldham, when I was 18.



gawd, what an experience!!!!

I've had to ask OH to come home to take me to physio :-0


I usually take buses to get there.

I live between 2 main roads, both going north-south. So I go to the one nearest to me and take the bus 4 stops south, then transfer to the one that goes north on the other main road.

All nice and easy.


THIS morning, a garbage truck was driving south on that first road when he ran into a parked car, demolished a bus shelter, and ended up on the pavement between a lamp post and an apartment building.

They're still trying to work out how to get the truck out from where it is, because it damaged both the lap post and the building ......... unknown how badly.

Sooooooo .... traffic coming south very difficult.


THEN there was an accident going north on the other road....


The other alternative would involve me taking at least 4 buses, and probably going right into downtown and then out again.


so OH to the rescue!!



Have to go and get ready so we can walk right out the house as soon as he arrives :-D :-D
