Sylvs...
Back in 1975 we were at my Cousin's wedding and OH, my two youngsters and I were sitting in the reception area of the hotel before we went into the wedding breakfast...
Other patrons of the hotel were wandering around as well as the wedding guests..
One of the hotel guests sat next to me... and yep it was Buffy Sainte-Marie..
Later on when my youngest (she was 10 months old at wedding) used to watch Sesame Street I told her that she had met Buffy.
I rather like her singing..
Persie..

Good morning all :-)
What a lovely story about that elderly couple Persie - that must be one of the keys to a long and happy marriage ?
Are you really going to leave us Persie ?? I am very sad to hear that :-( - Will you not reconsider ??
Sylvia.... that is very good service you get from the servers - nowadays it is quite rare.
Thank you for a lovely breakfast, yet again - I need to stoke up for a busy grandson day today.
I know he will want the paddling pool out as soon as he comes and I don't know how I am going to get him out of it to have his lunch and get ready for playgroup later........ I can see we are going to have BIG struggles :-(
Oh well,... see you all later.

Thank you for breakfast - porridge please.
I see I have beaten everyone to the table. How nice it looks before Dea attacks it with her ferocious appetite...... ;-)
It's about 2.5 years since my friend last visited me. She was worn out with all the excitement and was in bed by 8.30pm apparently!
Glorious day..........washing machine here I come :-D

back from the first of two receptions.
delightful evening, but I'm tired!!
Two of the servers bringing round the goodies also worked that dinner we went to last week ......... it's the university's Food Services.
They recognised me last week because they've worked these things for a number of years ................ but tonight, they were bringing me only the trays of things I could eat! They would pass me with others and say "You can't have this"! :-D
Two of the Honorary degree recipients were there tonight, the3rd was unable to attend.
One was a folk singer and activist from the 60s called Buffy St Marie ............. a Cree (Indian) from Saskatchewan
The other was a former Prime Minister of Canada, Joe Clark, who was the youngest PM ever when he was sworn in the day before his 40th birthday. Unfortunately it was a minority government, and he lost a vote of non-confidence after only 6 months, and then lost the election. He remained an MP for many years, and now does work with the UN (Special Envoy), etc
His wife Maureen caused quite a furor when they married in 1973 ............. she kept her maiden name!
OH was pretty impressed with Maureen ..... he had a chat with her this morning, and then another one this evening. Joe Clark never had very much charisma .......... but I always felt he was one of those truly honest politicians ........ an oxymoron I know. But true for him!
The second reception is next Tuesday

My cousin's DIL put this on FB ..
"This morning when I went for my walk, I saw an older lady in her pajamas waving to her husband as he was driving away for work. Just as his car turned to leave our neighborhood, I saw him roll down his window and wave his arm right back at her. I said to her, "That just made my day to see you two wave at each other like that." And she said, "We've been doing that every day for 44 years!" I was amazed at that statement, and even more amazed that it was 5:30 in the morning and she had been awake to see him off. "
Dea sorry I am a Persie Stranger.. wish I could play the piano like Percy Grainger..
Dea .. I finish on the boards on 12th June.....
I can hear the rest of you breathe a sigh of relief and that's without my hearing aids in.
:-)

Dea ...........
yep, it was the wee small hours here!
1:00 am
............... and I didn't realise how cold I had got until I started to move around, so it took me ages to warm up in bed.
I'm having a bit of a problem getting ready to sleep .................
It was 2:00 am when I went to bed on Monday night .............. I started reading a book after I turned off the computer. Fatal!
Tuesday night it was 12:30 am
AND OH is getting up before 6:00 am, ready to leave the house before 7:00 am while all these Grad ceremonies are on. The first one is at 8:30 am each day, and he likes time to drop by his office to see if there is anything important, as well as get to the ceremonies centre to check everything he is responsible for is ready to go.
BUT it means that I wake up round about the time he's ready to leave the house ............... no matter how he tries to be quiet (and he is really very good at that), I seem to sense it. This morning I woke up at 6:40 am.
moan over :-D

Gins? :-P
Went to see my friend today and took her on a 'magical mystery tour' - I brought her back to my house...... :-D
She was very nervous in case she didn't manage the step but she coped fine and really enjoyed herself......... :-D
The weather has been glorious but I am not a great fan of sitting out in it I have to admit.
Looks as though the Olympic torch is coming near us next week....I'm SO excited...................NOT. :-S

Yeah, and I bet you turn your undies inside out half way through the month ;-)

I have a bath at least twice a year whether I need one or not. ;-)
