I hate penalties ..................... they have it in ice hockey here during the season BUT not during the play-offs to the Stanley Cup (equivalent to your FA Cup). They just play sudden death overtime after overtime in the play-offs, until someone scores ............... 20 minutes each, just as during the main part of the game.

I think the record is 5 overtime periods, after 3 regular periods. That game ended well after midnight!




I saw somewhere that the head of international soccer has suggested that penalties be done away with ............... especially to determine important games. He said that after the Chelsea game last week.

Sepp Blatter, FIFA President, Wants Penalty Shootouts Scrapped ...........

he's asked Franz Beckenbauer to come up with an alternative. Of course, Beckenbauer just happens tobe Bayern Munich honorary president :-D


Of course, others think penalties should remain, as they provide a nail biting suspenseful end to a game.
