For Sylvia - when she comes on !

I have just looked up my old itinerary for my trip to Canada.

It seems that the Coach trip started in Calgary - called in at Banff, then Lake Louise, then we stayed overnight at Lac le Jeune. Travelling on the following morning, via Whistler to Vancouver.

Does that make sense?

I seem to remember that Lake Louise was VERY beautiful !

I laughed at the boat with the big hat on it..

Good photos of all of them... and Beatrice and Eugenie's hats were a vast improvement..

The Brits have done themselves proud.. with a little help from the colonies...

Thank you..

They are lovely clear pics, I often look at the dailymail.. but had not got around to it..

My OH was watching it on the TV and said how it looked like the painting by Canaletto and then it was there in the photos with today's one..

Great and even a video to watch as well..

The breast cancer survivors are from here (British Columbia) .........

............... but they borrowed the dragon boat from a similar group in the UK.

Did you also see the Voyageur canoe from Canada?

If you look closely (or the camera pans in, you can see that the men are wearing hats with long "tails" ...... that's what the voyageurs used to wear.

and the Venetian gondola :-D

They have done that at our City Train depot Gins.. so they can't inject.. they have needle receptacles there but surprisingly they are kept really clean.. they are the one where they flush when you leave.

As you say Jax the toilets in the US are not wonderful gaps down the sides on the ones where you pay and no lock on the door of the free one... but then in the middle east i have been in a large room with several holes in the floor to squat over... I would fall over trying to do that now.. you really do need to wear a burka.

Mornin all...........stopped raining at last but still buddy dull, more like an autum day

Our loos in places like Macky Dees have ultra violet lighting so the drug users cant use them. The light stops them being able to see a vein, so they cant inject

They were brought in after numerous deaths in fast food gaffs...

Perse

we noticed the needle receptacles when we were down in OZ in 2006 ...... they were even in very nice restaurants, as well as in the public toilets near the town park.

They are now common in many places here in Canada.

Just not inclined to linger when there are gaps down the side ..... however doors here are above head height.

jax

jax Report 4 Jun 2012 05:44

The American cubicles are like that or have great big gaps down the sides of the doors....very off putting :-D

Persephone Report 4 Jun 2012 05:20

And don't use Mac Donalds in Melbourne.. they have these doors that only come to about shoulder height so anyone can look over the top.. I assume it's to stop needle use.
Nearly everywhere you go over there there is a place for used needles. We have very few of these receptacles here.

I remember having problems in Australia when we were living down there.

Up here, every place that serves food, even a coffee shop that doesn't make the food, but has ready-made sandwiches, muffins etc, AND tables to eat inside (ie, not takeaway) has to have a least one bathroom with a toilet and washbasin for the use of customers.

So, I was quite used to going in, buying a coffee, and visiting the facility

no, no ........ not in Australia of the mid-70s.

Go in, buy coffee because 18-month-old, let alone me, is desperate ............ ask for toilet. Don't have one.

And that place cooked some food on the premises, so was more like a cafe than a coffee bar!

I quickly got to know where there were public toilets in the centre of Melbourne!

Persephone Report 4 Jun 2012 03:11

I was about 18 and had my cousins two little ones with me in the city.. the girls were two years and six years ( I did type two and six and thought that looked too much like half-a-crown) ...

and the youngest wanted to go to the bathroom.. I looked around and their was a pub nearby so took them in there past the public bar (which was a male drinking area) and through to the washrooms...

Never thought anything more about it until the eldest said to her mother that I had taken them to a pub. My mother leapt in and told me off before finding out that I was not taking them for a drink with my mates.
