Whilst not being an out and out royalist you have to admire the Queen.

She is 86 years old but the way she walks, ascends and descends stairs, speaks and her general deportment belie those years. Apart from the wearing of reading glasses during yesterday's service and ear plugs during the concert (Who wouldn't) her general demeanour and appearance is that of a much younger individual. She could easily pass for a woman 25 years her junior.

Whilst there is no denying that her position undoubtedly has its perks and privileges, hers is not a job that many would want or indeed be able to do. She has done her job well for the past 60 years and deserves a great deal of respect for that alone.

I started the weekend not really wanting to watch countless hours of "Festivities" but as I caught the odd glimpse of what was going on as I was channel hopping I became interested in seeing what was going on. The BBC's presentation was a bit benign at times but the organisation of the events themselves was excellent.

I very much doubt that I will be around should there be a Platinum (70th) Jubilee but it would not surprise me if there was one. Long may she reign!

Ten years ago I was working for a really awful man who told me I was assistant manager of this pub/restuarant and got me working all hours over that holiday so I did'nt see any of it.....it came to a head on the 4th day of running my butt off at the end of the holiday...when a customer said to him how good I had been and how hard I had worked ect

His reply was " John (made up name) was better" then he went to get a print out of the daily sales...which of course showed John had done more...but I was the one doing the management duties seating people in the resturant and collecting glasses from the garden ect...I told him where to stick his job and walked.

I managed to get a proper management job a couple of months later

When I rung up the HR dept to report him it was then I found out I was just bar staff and he had told me I was management so he could make me work all hours.

Sylv
Shirley Bassey only did one song and I am sure that was cut short so Kylie could do four...I am sure the Queen would rather have seen Shirley than Kylie

Stevie Wonder was late so they got Rolf Harris to sing Two little boys which I was singing along too then they stopped him just before the last verse grrr

I thought Cliff sounded as though his teeth did'nt fit and Elton sang as though he forgot to put his in and Paul Mcartney was rubbish

Overrall it was'nt bad the best bit was Charlies speach and calling the Queen mummy

Linda ......................

re Anne, Andrew, Edward and all the other grandchildren .........

.......... they were there, but the Queen apparently wanted the focus to be on the direct heirs, Charles, William and Harry ................ so the others were in the background.

I'm sure Harry will be only too glad when Will and Kate have a child so that he too can drop into the background!
