Photos were very limited in his family and yes I am close to my first cousins or I should say I was as a lot of them have died now. I am the one that ferrets things out.. not them.

I am about to ask a cousin in Melbourne.who doesn't do computing she p..rovided me with a little pic of my gran when she was younger. My cousin is quite a bit older than me and I didn't know her when I was young. Her grandfather and mine were brothers and our grandmothers were sisters.

Persie
Oh your Dad sounds like he was a real character you gave me a laugh and I need one today. loved the story about the taxman.

Its a shame you dont have any pictures of him and his family as youngsters are you in touch with your cousins dont any of them have any?

I plan to meet up with my Mums cousins who have said I can look through their photos its on my "to do" list for this summer!

My Mums cousin in New Jersey (who we met up with when In NY in 2010 was the one who sent me the pictures of my grampa and his family and even him and my Nan's honeymoon picture and him in uniform also some of my Mums wedding pictures that she had sent to them.

So who knows what might turn up for you.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes appreciated.

I am not sure whether I told y'all this but probably did...

My father died in Feb 1998 and what is called our income tax year ends 31 March.. so after he died I did his tax return and signed it on his behalf and explained that this was his final return and that he had died in Feb... End of story

No not end of story at all... the following year our inland revenue dept sent me a form and on it.. it said that his circumstances might have changed since the last return.

I got the form and in black felt tip I wrote across it in large letters...
No he is still dead!
and posted it back... now that's the end of story.

He would have found it hilarious..

Linds, hope all goes well for you both, you'll need to eat and drink for Scotland when its all done with........I'll join you for the drink and Dea will match you on the food side of things ;-)

Buddy awful weather, peeing it down, cold and dull :-(

Have some prep and marking to do today, so really must not be on here all day

Picking JB up tonight when his train gets in about 9ish, cant believe I slept well last night without him and the house empty, as son was working until about 5am

Good morning all !

Looks like Sylvia is missing this morning - hope she is O.K.

The warmers are on and I have done the scrambled eggs - sausages and bacon are sizzling and the mushrooms and tomatoes are under the grill.

I have set out the cereals, milk and juices and made some porridge as it is a cold wet 'summer's day here. ;-) :-D

Fresh fruits and yoghurts over there >>>>>>>

Can you make your own toast while I see if I can find some hams and cheeses and pick up some fresh rolls and croissants?

Back soon,

Dea Xxx <3

Where my OH goes for his colonoscopy they give him tea or coffee, lovely club sandwiches and a little packet with two biscuits in it, in the recovery room and they are kind enough to offer me coffee etc as well.

MY OH has them done regularly... I just hate the procedure leading up to it... It has put me right off going through the procedure.

My dad also used to have them as well.. after the first one and my daughter aged 14 -15 asked him what he had had done.. and he said that they had stuck a tube up his bum with a light on it to see if hat was on straight... he had two bowel cancer operations after this. Every time he had a colonoscopy he was as he would say as "silly as a two bob watch" the slight anaesthetic wouldn't half make him do some funny things.

We had to wait once whilst he got ready for bed and he took ages to take his socks off and he was singing away... then he went to the pantry (what a performance) and got out the brandy and poured himself a full glass of it.. my OH got worried about that.. I just took the glass and said I will carry it to your room.. he fell asleep without touching it. I put a paper napkin over it and he rang next day to thank me for being so thoughtful and leaving him a brandy for when he woke up.

Another time it was earlier in the day for the treatment and after a lot of tomfoolery and him pouring himself a cup of tea from a great height ..I still don't know how he managed to get all the tea in the cup.. then he went to bed woke up in the evening about 7.30pm it was still daylight so he showered, got dressed and was going to go across the road to get the morning paper.

I have no photos of him or his siblings when they were little and I have never seen a photo of his dad... who died when my father was 13. and had to go out to work and support his mother and six siblings.. he being the eldest boy.

He outlived the lot of them.

Linda

Hope all goes well later today.

There is now apparently only 1 hotel in Frinton! Even the classic Grand Hotel has been turned into leasehold apartments.

The hotel I worked at is seemingly no longer there ............. probably apartments or demolished!

Sylvia yes it is a long time without food.

I read the "instructions" which said if diabetic and controlled by medication and you are given an afternoon appt phone to change to a morning one. But OH wouldnt do it so I am a bit worried .

Jonesey OH has had one b4 when he was 1st diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma they are doing this one to clarify that the "spots" that showed up on his PET scan are nothing to worry about although his last scan showed they hadnt changed or spread so fingers crossed.

Sylvia that hotel was lucky to remain open.
