well, the family has left

Bit of a hassle at the airport

their plane to Edmonton was 20 minutes late. They only had a 30 minute turn around in Edmonton before getting on the Halifax plane.

Agent didn't think they would make it .................... so she re-booked them on an earlier plane that went to Calgary, and then onto a Calgary -> Halifax flight.

This meant that they left Vancouver an hour earlier than originally planned, or less than 40 minutes after getting checked-in.

Good job that we had got there with 2 hours to spare!!!

Then the Halifax plane will get in about 45 minutes earlier than the original time, at about 6:15 am Friday morning ................... so OH had to phone M's mother in NS to give her the new time. She would then phone her husband to give him the new time that he had to be at the Halifax airport!!

The parents live about an hour outside Halifax, but father was staying in J&M's house in Halifax to finish building a playhouse for MJ

We left J etc to go through security a little sooner than we had hoped

................ and went to our local bistro-style restaurant for a celebratory dinner!

Dea

we had indeed put the winter quilt back on last weekend.

OH took it off before going to bed on Wednesday night, and replaced it with a thin blanket ............. plus of course the top sheet.

Tonight???

I think it will be sheet only!!!

Sylvs seems to swap and change her quilt at random Dea....... :-D

I keep the same one on all year. When it's cold, I put the leccy blanket on. When it's hot, I throw the quilt off........simples.... ;-)

Well, OH has been upstairs and tried to sort out the bed - lets hope he's got it right!!! m.e.n. :-(

Mind you I am a bit biased as Faye is one of my granddaughters. It was produced as part of her "A" level.

The Half a Sixpence geezer???? Dear me, he did more than that......

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 26 Jul 2012 10:55

Gins,

Tommy Steele was Britain's answer to Elvis, well not quite but certainly that was what his manager hoped would be the case. He was certainly Britain's first Rock and Roll idol. He is multi talented and over the years has written and performed many different styles of music including Half a Sixpence.

I approve of Meatloaf and confess that I have never heard of Plan B, is that part of your diet?

Cyn,

I saw the Beatles perform live on 2 occasions. I say "Saw" because I never heard them play/sing above the noise of what you accurately describe as the "Screaming Brigade".

I had seen this mornings HH previously. A nice outcome for the lady from Birkenhead and another rejection for F & F.

Morning everyone! Late again...sorry :-(

Thanks Dea - I'm quite happy with a continental breakfast... <3

Jonesey. I can only remember the first record I bought with my very own wages.....Oklahoma - and that was because it was a bargain!

I was a Cliff fan........and then a Beatles fan. I was in Liverpool when they hit the big time and the girls at school were part of the screaming brigade! I used to go regularly past the Cavern when I started work in that part of town. Nostalgia eh?

I suppose we feel about our grandchildren's music today as our grandparents felt about ours.............eeeeeeekkkk!

I'm not a great listener to music in the house as I prefer listening to audio books, but I do tend to have Classic fm on in the car.

HH was quite a tear jerker this morning wasn't it? ;-)

OH and his bed???

You may well ask Dea.

He was too tired to play about with the controls last night .....

so

he slept very well in his original recliner which is now next to the bed... :-S

I give up sometimes...... I really do...... :-\

Must go - am taking my friend and my daughter out later......~~~

Gee

Gee Report 26 Jul 2012 10:14

Tommy Steele, wasnt he the half a sixpence geezer!

My first album was Bat Out of Hell, Meatloaf, then I got into some heavy stuff :-0

I like Cat Stevens, T Rex and Plan B at the moment, ooh and a bit of Barry White :-D

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 26 Jul 2012 08:31

Cyn,

I also owned a Dansette record player in my youth, (Yes,I can remember that far back), bought for me when I was about 13/14. I had a rather eclectic taste in music back then. My first LP, which I still have, was Elvis Golden Records and my first 78rpm was Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue which I still think of as one of the most vibrant pieces of music of all time. When it came to pop music I preferred Tommy Steele to Cliff Richard which put me in a minority of one amongst my mates.

Through the years my musical taste has altered greatly. I have had an electronic period, Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Oldfield ect. A classical period, Beethoven, Prokofiev, and my all time favourite composer, Dvorak.

I don't listen to much music these days, probably due to my age I find that current "Music" is a bit of a misnomer, to me it just sounds like noise. If I play a Cd in the car it is most likely to be either Bob Dylan, John Denver or Cher which if anything must prove that my musical taste is still eclectic.

Good morning all <3

Sorry, I can only offer a Continental breakfast today - no time to cook before they arrive..............

Help yourselves to fruit and cereals and I have set out some lovely fresh croissants and danish pastries.

Tea, coffee and juices on the worktops.

See you all later,

Dea Xxx

P.S. - Hope OH had a good night in his new bed !!

Jonesey.

I didn't realise that it was as much as 40% !! That's a hefty chunk indeed.

I was once left about £5 in a will from someone who was a friend of my dad's. Know what I bought? A Dansette record player. The real thing in those days!!!

Night all.......here's hoping for a peaceful night........ :-S
