Duck confit.........seen on the chef programmes. Leg placed in a pot, immersed in fat and cooked for a few hours at a low temperature...I'll pass on that thanks :-0

Another fab breakfast, thank you Sylvs. You'll have gone to bed by the time I choose what to have :-D

Had a super meal ..........as always at this restaurant.

The maitre d' came to tell us about additions/changes to the menu. Said that there were no additions to the main courses ......... but then said

"We do have some lovely fresh, wild halibut in the kitchen. Chef has not quite decided on the garnishings for it yet, so it is not on the menu. But if you would like it, I'm sure we can sort something out'!!

OH loves fresh halibut, and his eyes lit up.

He got a beautiful smallish portion of halibut, lightly grilled, and with some imaginative veggies etc!

I had duck breast accompanied by a confit of duck leg meat .... which intrigued me as I didn't know what it was.

The duck leg meat came chopped up and wrapped in a very thin pastry.

I'm still not sure that I know now, after googling, what it was ...... but it was delicious!

I think confit is a home cook's way of preserving duck leg (and also wing) meat from France

altogether ...... well fed and a good evening out :-D

Watched Threads has not worked properly since it was first begun

It's much easier to jus use Mt Threads ................. every thread that you have posted on just shows up on with with an open envelope next to it

and no filling of your email box with emails.

not the worst Closing Ceremony I've watched ..... but certainly not the best either.

For someone from overseas ............... too many of the musicians were unknown, and too much of the music had the same sort of sound and beat.

OH loves music of all kinds .......... and he found doing the laundry more interesting :-0

and

I do wish Jacques Rogge would find a new speech ........... what he said was almost word for word what he said at the Closing Ceremony in Vancouver 2 years ago!

Sorry Cyn but I agree with Gins, so far the closing ceremony is absolutely awful (I'm being polite there). I've had more than enough of it so I'm away to my bed.

Night all.
