Well, looks like Sylvia is busy so I have thrown a few things together.............

All the usual cold cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruits and, of course, the porridge is bubbling on the stove.

Croissants and Danish Pastries.

Platters of various hams and cheeses,

Hot bread rolls, crackers, toast and a variety of sweet and savoury spreads.

Bacon and sausages sizzling in the pan and mushrooms and tomatoes under the grill.

Eggs will be cooked just as you like them.

Tea, coffee, juices etc, on the side.........

Enjoy,

Dea Xxx

'course you remembers the milk cart Sylvs......you is older than me!! ;-)

I agree about the lack of information re our food......but I must admit that I don't buy any 'value' frozen products usually. I rarely buy meat from the supermarket as I want to support our local butcher. His meat is of a high quality and he's a very pleasant and humorous chap - we always make each other laugh somehow. :-D

My daughter has been collecting old mobile phones for an autism charity and he's been really good and asked his customers to help. :-D

Oh well, bedtime it is.....early start on a Sunday :-(

Actually, I don't really mind getting up early because it means my OH can get his meds in order so that we can go you-know-where........ :-D

Night all...........

Daughter and family are coming to visit over the Easter weekend ...................... but not to see us.

They're doing the incredible trip (8 hours plane trip each way) so they can go to the Island to see our friend (her godfather) while he is still reasonably healthy.

They arrive about 10:30 pm on March 27, go to the Island early on the 28th. Return on the 31st, and then fly out about 11:30 pm on April 1.

We'll get to see them for about a day and a half in total.

I remember the horse-drawn milk carts. They were around until at least the late '50s where we lived .......................

I can also remember those with gardens running out to collect the horse's droppings. They would put them in a bucket, add some water, and then later put the manure water on their gardens, especially around the roses. Some people put the droppings around the plants immediately .......... but others considered that this could "burn" the plants.

We moved into a house with a garden in 1951, and Dad was then one of the ones who liked to get the droppings.

I also remember the mess, and the smell, when cars used to drive over the droppings!

I have eaten horse meat, as I have said several times, mainly in the 1940s when Mum used to make a stew out of it

But also as recently as 2005 when we were in Switzerland, and were taken to a restaurant that specialized in "make your own" grilled kebabs ..................... they brought the raw meat and veggies to your table, plus a little stove, and you made your own. The meats available were beef, pork and horse meat. Our host said that the restaurant was renowned for the horse meat .............. so I tried it.

It was delicious.

However, I think the problem is the lack of information in your current situation!

Dea

Dea Report 9 Feb 2013 17:16

Sorry Ginns - I always think of the place 'in the Spanish' as Catalunya !!

'Catalonia' it is, in English !!

I studied the Spanish Civil War when I was taking my A-level Spanish so I found it quite interesting.

We dont eat much processed food, burgers are one of the ones we do

Everything else is made from scratch, like the curry we are having tonight, but you have to wonder what the heck is in our food

I will stay glued (not horse glue) to the news, me thinks there will be a lot more revelations to come :-0

Poor 'Boxer' :-(
