Mornin all~~~~

Jonesey, our roads are not cleared by the council but contractors, I think they are a French company called 'Amey' and although I am against contracting out, they have done a good job over this last few weeks

Sister looks the picture of health, all things considered. We had a real old chuckle yesterday, talking about the old days etc.....

She's just finished refurbishing her flat, it looks beautiful, New England style furnishings, really relaxing feel to it

She didnt go to church yesterday, the weather wasnt good so she stayed home, warm and snug. Me and No1 son left just at the right time, the snow was quite heavy on the way home and we have about 3 inches of it now :-(

Phone hasnt stopped ringing this morning...........students wanting their results!

More tea is needed me thinks.............

Mornin all,

The world has gone white again, the snow is about 4" deep round here and it has just started to snow again.

The road surface outside however is clear of the stuff. I must compliment my local council who now send the gritting lorries out whenever there is even a hint that the temperature is likely to go down to zero. Yesterday evening for example a gritter came past on at least 3 occasions. That was not the case some years ago when we rarely saw one in the area where I live, maybe a local councillor now lives in the road. ;-)

OH went you know where, as usual, this morning ..............

their vicar retired at age 65 at the end of December. She used to lead dreary services, read all her sermons, etc

The committee did some searching, and then they got a fill-in one Sunday about 3 weeks ago. OH wasn't there, so knew nothing until last week when it was announced that the "fill-in" had been appointed as the new half-time vicar

................ against the Bishop's wishes!!

This was his first day .............. OH said he was an "absolute cracker", and that he hadn't heard a sermon as good since he left the Methodist school in North Wales where he went from ages 13-18. Welsh Methodist ministers being renowned for fiery sermons etc ........... I had one as my RI teacher for the first 3 years in high school, and boy, could he liven up the class, especially when we got him riled up!!!!

Said vicar is in his 30s .................. and is half-time because he is a Music Teacher, and doesn't want to give that up.

Hi.......have had a visitor..... :-D

Thank you for the granny egg Dea....I'm glad it didn't drip 'cos I was wearing a red jacket and it would have looked silly with egg down the front.... <3

Gins.....you should have gone with your sister......never mind just picking her up....sheeeeeesh....... ;-)

Had a good morning you-know-where and, after the main service there were 3 baptisms. One of the babes arrived in a proper pram. Yep. A proper pram and you all know what I mean by that.

It had been re-conditioned and looked lovely. I couldn't help but rock it for a minute or two..... :-D :-D

Really hope that Canadian white stuff doesn't come over here too much....please ask them to keep it to themselves Sylvs.....

So, what else is new....???? No excitement anywhere??

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Feb 2013 21:06

daughter phoned this morning, earlier than usual .........

........ they had 30 com of snow and high winds (therefore drifting and blizzard-like conditions) over Friday night and Saturday morning ............... the tail end of that major storm that hit north-eastern USA.

Then they got another 10 cm overnight Saturday/Sunday ................. because of another storm that went east from Alberta through Ontario and into the Maritimes.

Her husband had cleared the driveway, the city had cleared all main streets and were starting on secondary roads, and were clearing the sidewalks with the little Bobcat thingy they use .................

................. so once grandson had woken form his nap, they were going to go out to get some necessary items.

They were snowed in yesterday morning, and forced to have a "home" day :-D

I see.....Ive had them like that too but I like the yoke dripping down my chin!

I can see why they would good to take in the car though ;-)

Dea

Dea Report 10 Feb 2013 10:09

A 'Granny egg' is one I cook for my grand-daughter Ginns! - She LOVES them' ! ;-)

If she previously had an egg she would eat only the 'white' (not too wasteful though as grandson would eat only the 'yolk' :-D :-D)

Anyway, I put the egg in a cup and break up the yolk into the white (not whisked as you do for a scrambled egg or omelette but just lightly broken). - Then I fry in a little olive oil, turning it over to cook both sides and she devours every scrap with gusto !!!

She christened it a 'Granny egg' and that's how mummy and daddy now have to cook them for her too :-)

Try one - they are excellent in a sandwich as they don't drip out all down yer front!
