Dea Report 8 Mar 2013 19:26

Well, folks,

I am back and I am O.K. - VERY long horrible day....

I arrived at one hospital just before 10am for the procedure scheduled for 10.30.

After 2 hours with nothing happening and people not telling me what was happening, except the Dr. had not arrived yet and was running late, I finally managed to get them to speak to me - apparently, I could either arrange it for another day, or go across the City to another hospital where they could do it after 2.00 in the afternoon................... :-( :-(

I said I wasn't going home and coming back another day after all that I went through with the prep - I wasn't going to go through all that again (It was hell) so hubby took me across to the other hospital and left me there (I insisted he went home).

I had it done about 3.30pm and have just got back.

They nearly kept me in because I rated my pain level at around 5/10 (which was a slight understatement) so I quickly lied and said it was no more than a 3 (they knew I was lying) - I lied in answer to the other questions too and I came home. ;-)

Feel much better now :-) :-)

Had a letter with some bad news today .........

........ my best friend from the day we met on the first day at Grammar School at the age of 11, died in late January.

I knew she was ill, and bedridden, but it still came as a shock ........

......... even more of a shock to her sister, who was doing some necessary care when B had a massive cardiac attack, and was gone. Sister, who was a nurse, obeyed instructions, and did not attempt CPR ........... B had asked not to be resuscitated. It then took the sister some time to find my address in B's book.

B emigrated to Sydney in 1962/3, and lived in Sydney then Mudgee, NSW ... where Lewella also lived. Does anyone remember Lew???.

Her sister persuaded B to move to Ireland in 2011 to live with her (the sister) .......... and B had been bedridden from that time.

B was the kind of friend who you don't meet often, because of distance, but you pick up right where you left off 5 or 10 years later. We last stayed with B in 2006.

OH also knew her well, of course, and is also very upset.

RIP B xxxx

Its a small world. My father would have been 106 years old yesterday. I always wish him a happy birthday on the 6th of March even though he has now been dead for over 40 years.

Linda,

I had a little chuckle to myself about your comment about your Podiatry appointment. Should podiatrists be running? Isn't that likely to upset their patients who probably have problems just walking? :-)

Cynthia Report 7 Mar 2013 21:26

Joy...... <3

It's funny you should mention your dad's birthday - I only said to OH on the 2nd March did he realise his mum would have been 100 that day? No...he hadn't!

We'll always miss our parents but we carry them in our hearts forever. :-)

Just back in from you-know-where. Well, it IS Lent. Got home and realised that I had left my phone there so got back in the car and off I went again........sigh. Just when I wanted to put my jamas on!! All sorted now..... :-D

Going out again tonight!

The dinner last night was for the invited speaker at a "function" tonight ..........

........ OH and I have only known her since 1971 :-D

She was my boss's first PhD student back then, but has been at the very top of her field for the last 30-35 years

She has not changed one little tiny bit! She is still the same very natural, friendly, "no side to her" that she was then. So's her husband.

It was lovely to be with her and her husband, and2 other couples connected with the Garden, last night.
