http://www.genesreunited.co.za/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1228199?jump=1228199 - error appeared three times and the post posted three times.

Love to meet you, too, Dea, and the others. :)

Nothing wrong with your typing, Gins :)

The error message appeared when I posted, twice.

The site shot itself in the foot, so to speak, when I learned that the renewal would be more than 100% increase; nothing is worth that.

That sounds lovely Ginns, far better than chocolates !

Just a small piece though as I cooked a HUGE lunch and I am still quite full !!

I have been told to eat LOTS of extra calories and the one bit of me which is still in good health is my heart so I can have LOTS of cholesterol as well :-D :-D

I will save my 2 chocolates for the morning ;-)

Gin,

A probable snag with giving up your landline, loss of your home broadband access.

Options:

Use your mobile phone as a modem. Probably more expensive and slower.

Use a dongle. Probably more expensive and slower.

Log on via nearby neighbours wireless network. You will need their security passcode.

One possibility is to switch to a cheap landline deal if you don't already have one and only use it to access broadband rather than for any phone calls that are not included in the landline deal.

BT landline costs only £10.75 a month if you pay 12 months up front. If you have Sky Tv then with their current Skytalk special offer the landline will only cost £7.25 per month for the first 12 months.

The advantages of retaining a land line are that your current broadband access and speed will be unaffected.

You will have access to another telephone should your mobile be lost/stolen/not be working for any reason.

You will still be able to receive incoming calls from people who may not yet know your mobile number.

Institutions such as banks or insurance companies generally prefer their customers to have a landline number rather than just a mobile number.

And finally a lot of online forms such as those on comparison websites have a mandatory question requiring the entry of a landline number, meaning that without entering one it is not possible to complete the form.
