No dreary black allowed at my funeral....Its all down on paper and filed with son No 2 what I want...
And I want the party BEFORE they dispose of me...My box is to be used as a bench seat........Not going to miss me own DO...!

Funeral I went to last year we cremated friend Mike on his birthday then went to pub and celebrated his birthday and pub decked out as for a birthday party...

Aw, Det, that's lovely

I had a student who died in a road accident. His wife wanted people to attend the funeral in BRIGHT colours

I went wearing, black trousers and a bright RED top....I was the only one who did so! Felt a prat but thought of his wife and him............it's what they wanted

.......so, I'm glad I did it

Good morning –

Just had to add after reading Jonesey’s posting re attire to wear at a funeral.

My best friend’s daughter died of cf at the age of 21. As only family and (daughter’s) friends were ‘invited’ to the funeral, we didn’t attend. However, we were told that everyone was asked to dress to represent the places they remember sharing time with her. Consequently the young people turned up in beach clothes – wet suits, sarongs, ra-ra skirts as well as Clubbing gear.
They attracted some very peculiar looks from the Mourners waiting to go in to the Crem for the next service
:-D

Good morning - good to see you back Sylvs and thank you for breakfast - porridge and banana for me please. :-D

It sounds as though the event was entirely fitting to your friend's life and it's good that all went well and according to plan. :-)

Linds......heave that ironing my way - I'm happy to do it. Mind you, it will have to be tomorrow as, this afternoon, I am taking grandson to the dentist for TWO appointments :-S After that, I will pick his sister up and then go and see their other grandma who is rather poorly at the moment. :-(

I'm considering buying a new printer - not a super-duper effort - just one that won't be so expensive in ink consumption!!! I have fits and starts of printing and so, meantime, the ink tends to dry up and is rendered useless and means I have to buy more. Sigh... will break the news to OH when we are in a suitable place ;-)

Going to get rid of some cardboard and shredded paper this morning.......what fun!!! :-D

Sylvia,

Sounds as if it was a fitting "Do" for your deceased friend. My view is that funerals should be a celebration of a life rather than the mourning of a passing. Where possible I try to dress appropriately for that life rather than in mourning attire.

To my wife's step-father's funeral I wore a red bow tie just as he had worn during his many years as an entertainer. When a whole bunch of us attended the funeral of one of our close clay target shooting friends we did so dressed in our normal shooting gear including our shooting vests. It was exactly how we would have been dressed when he was here with us. His wife and indeed the vicar conducting the service really appreciated our gesture.
