LOl how funny is that! Just shows I suppose that if you wait long enough everything comes around again.

Although I do like that the 1940's really feminine skirts and dresses are coming back in.

hi all
xx

Grace .............. believe it or not, some of us got into trouble in high school because our skirts were too LONG!

We had this weird, and expensive, uniform change ......... for the first 4 years we wore gymslips.

Then in the 5th year, we wore pinafores (or jumpers as the Americans call them)

Then if we stayed on into the 6th form, we wore navy skirts and white blouses with the school tie.

Some of our mothers bought gymslips in year 1 that were long enough to last 4 years ......... but didn't bother trying to put a new hem on them (well, have you every tried to turn up a box-pleated gym slip??)

Some of us had mothers who were clever at sewing. My friend's mother made a pinafore for her that could have the top detached so it became a skirt for the next 2 years

Only she made it long enough to last ..........................

Poor "Beryl" got in terrible trouble with our dragon!

Hi all,

Cynthia my friend seems to be really overwhelmed. I think he is struggling with the diagnosis and how it will change their life, at the moment I guess he is thinking of all the negatives...I think it is putting a strain on the marriage as well. I have given him some stuff of my daughter's to use, like flash cards etc to help but I wish I could do more for them.

Hope everyone is all good, Sylvia glad that you are feeling better...all this talk of miniskirts..when I was in high school there was an old dragon vice principal. We had to kneel on the ground and if our skirt was greater than two centimetres from our knees, our uniforms had to be taken down..(and this was in the 80's). Goodness knows what she would think of the short short dresses girls wear now to go out!

Ah...thanks Cyns, I didnt know you cared :-D

HP....Harry Potter? Not my bag, took the kids to the early films and hated every minute, cant say they were that impressed either, except my niece, she loved em, so bought her all the books over time

Relax LK and enjoy your times off work

Pers

So do you have snow at your gaff?

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 15 Aug 2011 18:48

I find all the HP films confusing to be honest. Not a fan I have to admit.

Glad you're relaxing LK..........it will do you good. Enjoy what's left of the day.

Gins, on the other hand, is working like a trojan........she's going to be worn out.......

Hello Wall..

00

Is everyone out for the day? Did Gins get up at all???

Had a lovely lunch and then took my poorly but much improved friend back to her house for the first time since January. She coped really well.

The friend we had lunch with was telling us about a funeral. It appears that the family had invited a Piper to play a lament presumably.

The Piper, turned up, all dressed up in his kilt etc., marched up to the Vicar, stuck out his hand and said "Jock".

The Vicar took the proffered hand and replied "Neil".

The Piper knelt.

Bye Wall.
