Hi
xxx

we got back yesterday evening (ie, Wednesday), but am still trying to catch up!

We had a good time, but boy, it was cold at night!

The lowest overnight temperature was -4C (yes, MINUS), the highest was 11C. All the others were 1 or 2 degrees either side of 0C

The days were quite pleasant at around 18/19C on most days.

But it did mean we had the fire lit most mornings, and most evenings!

Good job we found our winter flannelette night wear in the box labelled "cabin clothes" ...................... the bed was lovely and cosy, but, oh, it was cold if you had to go to the loo at 3 am!

We had had no invaders, of either the 3- or 4-legged variety

we're going away again for the first weekend in September, staying with our best friends on Vancouver Island for the holiday weekend.

Gins

as a gardener I was only concerned with SEEDS

just put the whole thing in a large paper envelope or paper page --- then bang the bag with your hand and the seeds will come out ------they should be dry before you collected them

and put it somewhere dry until next year ------

When I get to Maries will send you some of her giant double poppy seed and am bringing seeds from over here ---- loads

And well done to your students --- what was the compo

Well thank you Jonesey!

What do I do with the heads though, put them in the envelope whole or open them and save the seeds?

Do I need to let them dry out and open them and save or just save whole

Thanks Dea, Im glad YOU recognised my students success ;-)

Sprinkle the seed amongst low growing shrubs for a spectacular and contrasting effect.

If you were hoping to produce heroin from them I wouldn't bother as the latter stages of the process are quite dangerous (So I am told) and we wouldn't like to lose you. ;-)

Im home at last!

Victory for my team of students today, we won the team comp out of all 120 students at the college.....yipeee I did tell them its because they are the best and I am the best tutor ;-)

OK poppy heads....Ive pulled them off and now what do I do with them?
