There is something hugely satisfying about growing your own veg - even if it is a very small amount. Our runner beans were great this year and we were able to give loads away.

I see Gins went to buy loads of make up - not surprised, she sure needs it! ;-)

The commision used to be £15 twenty years ago when I used to deal with that sort of thing, I'd hate to think what it is now.

Maybe I will just frame it they were free anyway

Dea Report 10 Sep 2011 20:07

Probably not worth selling, taking into accunt the comission !

Ok ta Dea :-D

I have about 20 shares in M&B who own Harvesters wonder if they are worth selling now.

I took out a share option when working for them and when my three years were up the price to buy was more than they were worth...but at least I got the money back

Our morrisons is small but they are in the process of building a bigger one next door. Only trouble is the exit is on our road so I hope when it is built they put an exit on the main road too

Strange really !! - I shop there, on average, 3 - 4 times a week.

I spend a fortune there.

I even own shares in the place so I know who owns it but I still have great difficulty in calling it 'Morrisons' rather than 'Safeways' !!

Our sainsburys is quite good has a car park on the roof too.

Hav'nt applied for a blue badge which I should have really but parking is never a problem.

Morrisons is better can walk there (well not walk but can get there on my scooter)

I dont blame you Dea.

Where mom lives in Wales, Sainsbury have the smallest car park ever and the spaces are sooooo tight

I live in a large city so it has to comply with the local planning, which insist on 'vast' parking arrangments

Dea

Dea Report 10 Sep 2011 19:24

You are very lucky Ginns.

My Sainsbury's car park is #### !! - (use your wildest imagination !!)

A clue here - #### does not mean Good or Nice or Fine, but quite the opposite, with knobs on !!

That is why I NEVER shop there !!

That should be good soil with the ash....grow anything I should think

Our Sainsbury has a massive two tier car park Dea.....and an Indian checkout geezer who gives me all the best recepies

He checks out what I have bought and then suggests what to do with it...hes ace...oh and very good looking, but thats not why I go to his line!

You can plant Cabbage carrots ,beetroot, salad stuff and any other thing among the flowers no probs....They do well grown together....At least the slugs and snails ate the cabbage this year and not my lupins...

And the runners are grown in a small raised bed on some land that was used for dumping ash and cinders for years that is behind a wall so I couldnt see any flowers in there anyway..

Dea Report 10 Sep 2011 18:36

DO take him up on it Toots !

You have to wait years for an alotment around here - If you have access even to a small piece of one - DO make use of it 'coz home grown stuff is SO much nicer !!

Dea I was overwhelmed by the success of the strawberries and how easy it was.

I have a friend who brings me his glut of tomatoes every year and they are amazing, nothing like the watery stuff from the supermarket. He keeps inviting me to his allotment so I am going to take him up on it.
