I have just had a LOVELY pm Cynths.

I helped someone just over a year ago to find details on his father who remained in America over 60 years ago when this person returned to England with his mother.

The father was meant to follow them back to England but never did!

Anyway, he has now managed to find his family in America, Ireland and other parts of the world and has siblings, cousins, an elderly aunt etc.

He has met with some and is meeting with others and is just SO happy!

Isn't that lovely??? :-D

Have just had a pm from someone I sent a message to re their replies and they can't see the word Community in the dark green bar. I suppose there IS more than one green bar on here but again, it makes me realise how many older folk really struggle with things on here. :-S

Oh that's lovely Jonesey.....many congratulations to you all. <3 <3

I knew you were 'getting on a bit' but.........well, words fail me!

Not really - as I am a step-gt.grandmother!

Thanks for breakfast Dea...plenty there for me to snuffle through.

Hi Grace, I live not far from Blackpool but haven't been there for years. It's pretty much as has been described by others on here. I was surprised you had never heard of it - I thought it was quite famous in its own way!

Here and there today......... ~~~~~

Well, as our Persie is busy again I have prepared a little something...

It's food shopping day today so fridge is a little bare, but I can offer the following

Cereals - only cornflakes or bran flakes I am afraid (grandchildren have eaten the others).

Crispy bacon, poached eggs , sausages (only got 6 left but you are welcome to them)!, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms'
(Got hundreds of tomatoes in the garden so I never run out of those)

Toast, crumpets, danish pastries, croissants, (gluten free rolls, toast and crackers) !!

Platters of fresh hams and cheeses,

Half an Asparagus quiche,

No muffins, but I have some home made walnut cake.

Yoghurts and fresh fruits.

Coffee, tea and juices.

Hope that's enough for you all!

Enjoy................

To paraphrase a well known ex-prime minister:

"We are a great grandfather."

Miss Lexi Elizabeth came into this world exactly 22 minutes ago. Mother and daughter are both doing well. There is no news yet as to the fathers condition but missing his nights sleep will obviously mean that he is tired out.

Gin,

Yes that appears to be the case although you make up for it by having a 20 minute nap every half hour. ;-)

Gee Report 28 Sep 2011 05:49

Is it true the older you get the earlier you get up?

If so, I'll be getting up an hour after going to bed by the time I reach 70!

Sylv and LK crawling up the wall.......hmmm sounds a bit odd to me ;-)

Glad you are feeling better Sylv and nice to see you on here...things have been awful quiet with you away

However that Cynthia manages to stick he ed up and spout out a few things from time to time......all complete nonsense of course :-P

Grace

Hi!

Blackpool is an experience not to be missed!

It is one of those seaside places where people used to go before the "hoi polloi" were able to travel outside the UK, or got more than a few days annual holiday.

Lots of sand where kids could play, donkey rides, a pier to walk along, a steel Tower, with a ballroom and nightly entertainment for the adults.

It is raunchy, loud, "common" .................. and great fun. No matter whether you go in summer and enjoy the sands and the fun park atmosphere, or in the autumn months when they have the "Blackpool Illuminations".

Dea ........................

I am quite a bit larger than you!

...................... I have lost almost 5 lbs in weight :-0

and I only had one liquid meal!

My appetite is down by about one third from normal

............... but that is about the same weight I also lost in 1995

as my then-GP said "that's quite a drastic way to lose weight" :-D

hey LK

so glad to hear that things are progressing well for you!

I don't have to wear a bra anymore, if I don't want to!

I got excellent movement back in my right arm before just by doing the wall crawling exercises, and intend to get a similar range back with my left one this time.

The physio offered is much better this time .................... I can start crawling the wall after the drain comes out (hopefully Thursday), and I start with one of the physios at the place I usually go in about 2 weeks time.

Good morning all,

Jonesy thanks for the info on Blackpool, it looks an interesting place for a visit. Persie no we didn't get that series here. It seems to take FOREVER to get things from o/s on our screens..even Downton Abbey the second series is not beng shown until March next year :-P cross about that!!!!

Sylvia glad you are improving, I am sure you will loads better once you can have a shower. Having your hair washed will help hugely too.

Hope evryone is having a nice day/night thus far! :-D

How lovely to see you Sylvia :-D :-D

I know just what you mean about keeping your arm close to you and remembering not to move it.
I gave up using capitals for a while as I could not reach the key with 1 hand.
No one complained.

We will have you using that latex soon and crawling the walls.

It works though. I have a lot more strength and movement in my arm. I even managed to hooks of my bra this week.

Got stuck on the third one.

And I have tied a bow behind my back.

I have found something new.

I copy and paste census info onto my GR tree in the notes section.
If you highlight a name or address say and right click it gives an option to google it in a new tab.

SO lovely to see yu Sylvs !!

You seem to be doing so very well but I am sure it has been and still is a difficult and painful time for you !!

Take it slowly and come back to us fit and healthy very soon!!

Do you know - that is one good thing about being small !! - I don't know how large or small you are, but If I were to have the same operation, they would only have to put in just a very few staples 'coz from the middle of my front to my back is only about 8 inches !! AND - I would only lose about 2 ounces in weight !!! :-D :-D

Get 'proper' well soon,

Can I help it if Gins is dense???? :-P

Most of us on here remember the old money - £ = pounds s. = shillings and d. = pence - right? :-D

Gins can't fathom why it is a d. for pence. :-S

I have tried to explain that it is from the latin...librae, solidi, denarii. :-D

Will she have it? Will she 'eckerslike! :-|

Glad you're 'ere Sylvs.....I'm fair worn out with things. <3
