That's good to hear Cynths - I can't believe how much she has recovered !!!

Give her our love when you see her next -we are all astounded by her improvement !!!

Thanks Dea. I think it's been left until her sons thought she was ready to be there. One lives down south so things had to all tie in.

She's fine about it. She knows it won't necessarily be easy but I am sure she will cope. She's done all the arranging from her room in the care home......so she is obviously 'back on the ball' so to speak :-D

Cynths,

I suppose you are not able to have an influence as to what happens as you are not 'family' ??

I know you will be there to help her through it ! - I think she will need you!

Take care Cynths - I will be thinking of you both on Saturday <3 <3 <3

Ohhh - that will be SO difficult for her!!!

It is such a long time since he died - why is this hapening now ??

Is it really in her best interests to be going through this now, so long after the event - Is she 'ready' for it ?

Hello Dea......didn't get the chance because workman arrived to pain the outside rail so we had to scarper.

Hopefully she is going home with the right 'package' before Christmas.

Her husband's ashes are being buried on Saturday.....it will be quite an ordeal for her as she was unable to go to the funeral and was partly oblivious to the whole event to be honest.

Gins? :-P :-P

I give in. Where am I looking for these 'big square numbers'???

Sylvs.......I started to read the last bit of your message ......"Smoking corned beef........." and had a vision of Gins or Fans with a slice of rolled up corned beef drooping from their lower lips..... :-D

Fans ain't around yet......can any of you take a look at Sue's thread and see if you can help 'Old' please? Was going to ask her but I know she is either knocking a wall down or building one up or laying a floor....or...or...or....... ;-)

Dea Report 13 Oct 2011 19:25

Ginns - you are quite right - I will NOT be missing breakfast tomorrow - I was starving when I got back!!!!!!!!!!!

I have also noticed the big page numbers - I find them very distracting, I keep thinking I have a message of something :-(

I suppose, given a few days we will probably no longer notice them though.

Corned Beef.......IS dog food!

Cyns, you cant see the big square buttons for the page numbers?

Get yer giggs on woman

Dea

Dea Report 13 Oct 2011 19:22

Yes - It is the Fray Bentos Corned Beef in cans that we have been talking about Sylvs, although I have not been able to get 'Fray Bentos' for the past 12 months or so - There is 'Princess', though I won't touch that as when I tried it once it smelled like 'dog food' when I was cooking it and had a similar taste and I dumped the whole meal straight into the bin !!

'Morrisons' or 'Tesco' own brands are quite acceptable but Fray Bentos was certainly the best one.

I thought I shoudl say that one has to be very careful asking for corned beef, or when seeing corned beef on a menu, over on this side of the big pond

It is not the Fray Bentos Corned Beef in cans that we have all been talking about!

Over here, it is a cut of beef (usually brisket, but sometimes round or silverside) cured or pickled in a seasoned brine. It is often purchased ready to eat in delicatessens, or can be bought at the supermarket or butchers, and cooked at home, when it is treated as a joint, and is often served with cabbage.

It is the key ingredient in the grilled Reuben sandwich, consisting of corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island or Russian dressing on rye bread.

Corned beef hash served with eggs is often on breakfast menus

Smoking corned beef, typically with a generally similar spice mix, produces smoked meat (or "smoked beef") such as pastrami.
