Morning all, hope you are good.

Lovely sunny day today, little germ factory must have decided to bring a sore throat home to me last night. She is fine I am freezing cold and hurts when I swallow :-(

Off to the dr at 12.20 today no doubt to end up sitting in the waiting room forever and to be told I just have a virus :-)

Have been tracking a bit more through my tree, as my mum has suddenly remembered a few tasty morsels of scandelous behaviour! LOL I find I have to pepper her with questions and then hopefully something triggers a memory off!

Jonesey........have you forgotten your meds again??? :-P

Hi Sylvs...........Falling again are you? :-D

Who else looked like Roy O? Not a clue.

OH had his flu jab this morning. The Docs was packed and, whilst we were there, an ambulance arrived. In came the paramedics and disappeared down the corridor. Oooooer.

A short while later they came out with a walking patient. Went to see the nurse - whom we have known for ages - and it turns out it was one of her patients! She said he was fine when he came in to see her........but.......she didn't elaborate obviously but I was glad to get out of there :-D

Have just ordered my ice grippers Gins............must get some more salt in!

Gins

Is the song you're thinking of Great Balls of Fire

and wasn't the singer Jerry Lee Lewis

who was banned from entering the UK in the 50s (or maybe early 60s) because he was married to a 14 year old girl (who also happened to be his cousin)?

It was a perfectly legal marriage in the State they were from, but not acceptable in the UK.

OH is working at home today ................ the boiler has not been working at the Garden for at least a month. So, no heat.

It wasn't too bad when we had the warmer temperatures, but it's getting a wee bit cold in the offices now!

Do UK colleges and universities have the same policy that ours do .................... have to take low bid on jobs???

When I was working at the Garden, we had a boiler bought on the "low bid" system .................... there wasn't another one like it in the whole of Western Canada. It was very different from any other heating system on the campus, and it broke down regularly at last once every winter. Parts had to come from Montreal. On at least one occasion it was out of operation for 2 months.

That one was replaced a few years ago (after I'd retired!), but this "new" one was also got on "low bid".

OH overheard some of the "engineers" muttering about having to fabricate parts for it :-S

The Garden offices are right on the edge of campus, so the powers-that-be decided in 1991 when they were being built that it was too expensive to extend the university steam heat system out to them, and we had to have our own individual system.
