Rob,

As I am sure that you are aware about 70% of WW1 service records were destroyed by fire during WW2. Ancestry however has transcribed what remains and have these on their site. They also have WW1 pension records and occasionally in the past I have found a soldiers service records there when they did not show up in the Service records database.

There are some records for an Alexander Hill born in Ballymena. Is that your relation? If so I have access to them.

Having looked at those records on Ancestry I don't think that they are ones relating to your Alexander. I note that the one commemorated at Tyne Cot was 23 when he died in 1917. The records seem to relate to someone who signed on in April 1911 so unless your man joined as a boy soldier I doubt that it is him.

Dea I think someone here did a few month's ago and could only come up with same info I have from CWGC. His name is Alexander Hill d Aug 16 1917 is listed on Tyne Cot Memorial.

Tapping into "Fred's" extensive brainpower

Who can request service records from WWI

What information would one get from the records

The reason I ask is that I am contemplating getting service records for great uncle who died, i assume, in the Battle of Langemark, Aug 16, 1917. Would there be information as to when he signed up, when he was sent overseas and what his deployment was.

Thank you

R

No, it's to help make movement easier

The incision is very long ................. it basically runs from my breastbone right underneath my arm to the back, and the layers of flesh sort of stick together and won't move when they've been subject to "trauma"

so the massage helps the layers to "unstick" and then move over each other, just as they would do normally.

If I didn't do the wall climbing exercises, and we didn't get the muscles moving freely against each other, then I would end up unable to raise or stretch my arm out. I wouldn't be able to put on sweaters, etc.

I was lucky in 1994 ........ they didn't have this kind of physio service, so all I could do was wall climbing, but I also did some massaging by myself, not knowing I was doing the right thing. I'm also now 16 years older!

I also do seem to heal quite well, and quickly.

Ohh - that sounds a bit 'sore' Sylvia!

What purpose does all that massaging serve? - Is it to do with blood circulation?

Hi Dea <3 <3
xxx

Physio went really well

...... she spent most of her time massaging the incision area, and also taught OH how to do it, as there are a couple of areas where it is diffiuclt for me to do it.

I go again on Saturday, then twice next week and twice the week after!
