Gee Report 18 Nov 2011 18:46

Yeah, see Cyns.....it was me who thought you needed a pole

Whats the decorator doing tomorrow.....sticking more paper back on!

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 18 Nov 2011 18:41

To be honest R, I would rather have the chips........ :-D

So, where has everyone gone tonight...........?

I have, at last, finished stripping the wallpaper. Crawling along a skirtingboard has lost all it's appeal now.......

Looks like it's wall to wall Children in Need stuff on tv tonight. Must say, I do admire Matt Baker for his Rickshaw challenge. I actually just admire Matt to be honest!

For those of you from across the water......

Actually Cyn I was helping Gins out she was whipping a hat around

"Christmas gift for Cyns.......a pole

Anyone want to chip in?"

Just pointing to where she could get one (unless she already has one and could get it locally)

Cynthia Report 18 Nov 2011 09:55

Good morning all. Lovely breakfast Sylvs...thanks....the same as Dea I think....yum.

Persie....I don't need a pole, polished or otherwise - that was R's idea! He has some very strange ideas at times.

Must nip off and buy some paint for my decorator who is due tomorrow!

Our council elections are like that, by the time I have finished reading I have forgotten who does what the best... One year we voted re the council at our local school, where I worked part time... some of the staff were employed on polling day... I got my papers and went down systematically ticking which ones I wanted... came out and he was still in there so the other members of staff and I started chatting and we chatted and we chatted......................... and he was still in the booth, you could hear paper folding and then it must have been unfolding and so on and then one of the staff said to me "What is he doing in there, building a nest?"

Council elections can be silly, we both voted for the same person for Mayor once, but for different reasons though our first reason was the same we didn't like the main two candidates... I voted for this other one because she had judged my daughter's pikelets to be the winner in a baking competition, and himself voted for her because she could tap dance..

Pxx and snow is lovely sometimes.. Not when you are taking the chains off your car... but yes when you are ski-ing or when you are warm and cosy inside watching it.

We have municipal elections on Saturday.

We don't have wards in Vancouver, we vote city-wide .............. which means we have to vote for 10 City Councillors, 9 School Board Trustees, and 7 Parks Board Trustees.

The list of candidates for each is looooong

The city usually puts a booklet with all the candidates, their profiles, information on any referendum/a for borrowing money or whatever, etc etc

we haven't received ours for some reason

so I've just had to print it off from the 'puter,

now we can try to work out who and what to vote for.

That is lovely Gracie to have that contact, my cousins that live in the US have got their mother using Facebook she turned 86 last March... and she is so pleased that I made Friends with her on there. My mother and her were first cousins.

Some of the ones I have contacted on my father's side are getting very shaky in their writing, could never manage a computer etc.

I am about to send a letter to another lot... their mother's death was in the paper and I thought ah so that's where they live... let's see what info I can glean from them.. Usually I follow up and send off a tree related to them and their connections to me...

Persie

Why does Cyns need a pole? I could buy the polish for it.. she could wax and wane then...

Hi persie, that sounds like fun with the OH!

Heading off early today so I hope you all have a great weekend!

Am having dinner with my old boss tonight, Gracie has a birthday party tomorrow (Sat), then I am having a bridal shower for my nephew's fiance , on the Sun afternoon so I will be coooking all Sat as well, then Monday night we have the wedding rehearsal (Gracie is a flowergirl).

Will be stuffed by then I am thinking!

On a nice note Persie, the old chap that I made contact with is absolutely lovely! i have spoken with him about three times, and he is so excited to be getting all the info I had. He is 86 and he was so amazed as he never knew his aunties had different names, as for example he called one Meg, her name was really Susan Margaret and so on. I could also tell him what his mum had died from, as she passed away when he was very young and the children were never told then what was wrong (Cancer of the uterus).

He doesn't have a pc so I put everything in a wrd document and i mail it to him in installments so he doesn't get too overwhelmed.

I have only managed to find two other cousins in Australia from my nanna's side, one in Qld and one in Melbourne so am very happy! :-)

Persephone

Persephone Report 18 Nov 2011 03:24

I was just about to type..... himself had a good pair of trousers on (we had been out) and he is about to go up in the roof area... so he fished around in the wardrobe and grabbed a pair of stretchy track pants that are soooooooooo old.... then he put them on back to front..He coudn't get them off again ..they are rather tight... so he backed up to me on my laptop and said could I do the honours..it was like trying to get your gumboots off... and all I could see was btm in grundies. They are back on the right way around bright blue they are with a red stripe... really think he should put them on in a phone box.

Apart from that I have just been to vote... Voting is on 26th but I will be away... and it is easier to vote early rather than do a special vote in Wellington. Thank goodness I vote the same all the time and am not a swinging voter.... nothing they could say before polling day would make me change my mind.
