Just wanted to add that you have solved a mystery for me as I didn't know who Emily Mead married. I knew one of them married a Mr Casely but wasn't sure about the details so thanks for that. He was a name mentioned in Emily Stone's letters.

I have a real issue with my Mead ancestry. On James's death certificate his parents are stated as being Daniel Mead, a baker and Dinah Victon. I found Daniel Mead on the 1841 census in Enfield Middlesex, England but he was married to Charlotte Darrington. James Mead would have been about 6 years old by then but wasn't living with his parents. I have been unable to trace him anywhere on the census. Charlotte Mead died in 1847 and Daniel remarried Dinah Picton (not Victon). Dinah was a widow, previously married to Abraham Moorby.Their children were raised by Daniel and he taught the boys the bakery trade. Dinah's eldest son was called Japhet Moorby and he disappears completely from the census after 1841. He was born in the same year as James Mead. There is a family story that James Mead was a runaway and changed his name when he got to Australia (when?). There is a possibility that Japhet Moorby and James Mead are the same person. This would also account for the fact that I cannot find a death for Japhet Moorby in England either. It's a mystery indeed.

Yes this is some of my Mead family. One or two I will have to do some more checking on but they look like the children and their partners of James Mead & Emily Stone. The death in Sandhurst 1969 is my Grandad George Mead. His mother was indeed Emily Stone and his father's name was James WILLIAM Mead. Maybe there was a mix up in the registration. Sorry I cannot get back to you immediately with my replies, I very much appreciate all the help you guys are giving me. Incidentally, there will be no marriage record for James & Emily as Emily was married before in England to Henry Mogridge. He abandoned her soon after they arrived in Adelaide in 1864? and she met up with James Mead while she was left begging on the streets. We know this from letter fragments that survive. She must have been a very tough lady and she lived until she was 99 years and 9 months!

I would like to thank everyone who has helped me with my Borrman ancestors; I am quite overwhelmed with all the new information. My Great Grandparents James and Emily Mead's daughter was Flora Victoria Mead from Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo. She married William Borrman and the whole family loaded up a cart pulled by oxen and walked to Kalgoorlie/Boulder ( a tale related to us by my Grandad who was with them). I was hoping one day to make contact with descendants of James and Emily's children in the hope that someone had info on James Mead, pretty unlikely but I've tried most other sources! Anyway, thanks again for all that new Borrman information. Wow!
