Why would Emma use the name Elsie?

This is her marriage and the above children are the only ones that come up with father's name Duncan, mother Hague.

This is the birth of the child that was given away, so the other and marriage had to be later.

Hi Michael,

None of those match the information I have. I'm just assuming that Emma was also known as Elsie as I know when their youngest son died in Dec 61 he was 31 and I looked for a birth that would match. I have the birth cert for a kenneth Gordon in Sep 30 with Elsie Bedofrd nee Haigh as the mother.

those on your list don't have the right forenames or middle initials to match the names I have.

Thanks
Rachel

I'm trying to find the second marriage of my gt grandmother Emma Hague. She married my gt grandfather Edward Duncan in 1914 and my grandmother Marguerite was born later that year. Her sister Barbara was born in 1917 and Edward was killed in France in 1918.
Marguerite was sent to her Duncan grandparents and Barbara went to the Hague grandparents. Emma got a 'job' as a housekeeper for a Dr who she later married and had 4 children and that is where the mystery starts.

In 1984 my gran, Marguerite received a letter from Rowland Walter Bedford Duncan claiming to be a brother. He was the son of Emma and the 'Dr' born before they were married and just given to a family to raise but the new family kept his original birth certificate even though they renamed him Unfortunately the legitimate Bedford's wanted nothing to do with him although my gran kept in touch.

Now I'm trying to find out if the legitimate Bedford's are as legitimate as they think. I haven't been able to trace a second marriage for Emma either as a Hague or Duncan.

I have Emma's death cert which lists her as the widow of Walter Bedford and I think I have the birth cert for their youngest child Kenneth with parents Walter Bedford and Elsie Bedford nee Haigh in 1930 but can't trace births for their other children Peter, Geoffrey and Pauline all born between 1922 and 1930.

Any help tracing the marriage and births would be much appreciated.

Thanks
