Someone has been looking for a long time (2000):
SALIGARI, Corporal Helen Elaine (née TRIGGS) 442031 WAAF
Served at Silverstone, Northamptonshire, 1944
Message logged 14 July 2000: Does anyone remember Corporal Triggs? She married an Australian airman, Flight Sergeant STANLEY JOHN SALIGARI in March 1944, but he was killed in action on 22 June 1944 with 467 Squadron, LL971 PO-N (Flt Lt LR Brine RAAF's crew) on the raid on Scholven-Buer.
Does anyone know what happened to Helen? There is an unconfirmed suggestion that she remarried after 1944. All attempts at making contact with her through official channels have proved unsuccessful. An elderly brother of F/S Saligari (who lives in Geelong, Australia) would be keen to know what happened to his brother's widow.

Message for Burnie Nitschke

Burnie I tried to send you a long e-mail from London last night but it bounced. I believe the late Stan Saligari and his surving elderly Geelong brother Lionel E to be my half uncles. My father Victor James Sale was born a Saligari but my parents changed the name to Sale prior to my birth in Warragul Vic April 13 1944.

Please contact the lady receptioniste Bernice at the Luther College Croydon who provided her e-mail address as a substitute for yours that bounced.

Hope to hear from you in due course.

Regards

She wasn't in the Army - she was in the Women's branch of the Air Force, although the same criteria apply to availability of Records

Hi All,

I know you are such wonderful searchers out there and I was wondering if you could help me. Stanley John Saligari was born in Australia and served with the RAAF in WW2. He was trained as an airgunner and was assigned to 467 Squadron RAAF which was part of Bomber Command in Britain. Whilst he was over in Britain he met and married Helen Elaine Triggs.
Sadly he was killed in 1944.
When the war was over, his medals were to go to Helen his wife, however, she could not be found. His family in Australia wish to claim the medals, but cannot until Helen is deemed to be deceased!
Can anyone trace her anywhere?
I don't know where to start!!!
Thanking you in anticipation
