Hi,
Been looking again at the marriage cert of George Whitecross and Mary Brown and see that George was a resident of Manchester and Mary of Whiston although she came from Northants/Lincoln area. So it appears that George left Scotland before the age of 24. I have also checked what my Aunty told me (was 99 at the time but still with it) and she mentions an Elizabeth who had married twice, now I can find no other Elizabeth in the family so she must have been speaking of her grandfathers sister. Why did George & Mary go back to Scotland to have the daughter Ann, have copy of birth cert, perhaps born early while visiting family??? therefore not a well child and died young. Interesting about your possible Johnnie Walker connection. We are still away and enjoying this lovely UK weather.
