Births Dec 1860
JACKSON George Dudley 6c 79

Mike * Report 24 May 2010 19:26

Could this be it ?

Marriages Jun 1856
BRADFORD Mary Dudley 6c 124
JACKSON Benjamin Dudley 6c 124

Perhaps this is Samuel's birth cert which would confirm his mother's maiden name

Births Dec 1867

Jackson Samuel Dudley 6c 98

Possible... it's about the right age and Dudley would cover Sedgley

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deaths Sep 1891
Jackson Benjamin - 66 - Dudley 6c 32

If this is him you should still be able to find him on 1891 census

Thank you very much .Will now put her in the tree im sorting .Will put her at the younger age -she may appreciate that.! Is there a reason why the census dont have a set date .Is that too logical.

Gee

Gee Report 24 May 2010 17:53

Census records were not very reliable as people often gave the wrong age of someone in the house on the night of the census

And some people didnt even know their own birth year!

I wouldnt worry about a 2 year difference

Census dates:

6 June 1841
30 March 1851
7 April 1861
2 April 1871
3 April 1881
5 April 1891
31 March 1901

2 April 1911

I wouldn't worry about the slight discrepancy in age - in this game anything less than 5 years is an exact match!

please could anyone help.I have details of Martha on 1911 census [aged 32yrs] with all correct offspring ,married to John Jackson in 1896,Staffs.So was born in 1879. However on getting her marriage cert ,it shows she was 19 yrs at time of marriage-therefore born in 1877 not 1879.Also shows the 1879 dob in the 1891 census in Sedgley,Staffs.May be simple to solve but im baffled easily. Also ,what date are the census done on?Thanks to all for any help.
