Jayne

Have you tried searching the trees on GR?

Just click on Search Trees in the dark green band above the thread and baord title .......... enter the name and click on Search

that will tell you if any of the names are in any of the trees on thiss site.

Then you can send an pm (personal message) through GR to the tree owner.

That is the way to find out whether anyone has her in their tree.

The chances of someone just browsing these boards to find "their" names are very slim

The people who are replying to you on this thread are all like myself ........... members of GR who enjoy using our expertise and subscriptions in other sites to help people who are looking for information.

Hi Ellen,
Thanks for your reply, but I have no middle name for Jane or her potential sister Mary at the present time and have no other information regarding Jane's parents which is why I asked for help as I don't have a clue as to her life/family and have no idea as to why she ended up in Heaton Norrisand marrying James, which would have been a long way from Oxford. What I was actually looking for was the names of her parents and if there were any siblings, but it looks as if this may not be possible to find.
Thanks for your help with this though, I really do appreciate your help with this, even if it isn't concluded so far. Maybe someone on GR might have the answer and I will just have to wait.
Best wishes
Jayne

Hi Ellen,
Thanks for your reply, but you have said that Jane Day was born in Stockport, but she was actually born in Oxford. I have no idea how she ended up in Stockport or how or why she was in Heaton Norris prior to her marriage to James Handford in Heaton Norris, but the census records confirm this (and the birth/marriage certs)..
Could you please advise if you think that Mary Day might be Jane's sister please?
Many thanks
Jayne

"LANGFORD, a parish partly in the hundred of Farringdon, county Berks, and partly in that of Bampton, county Oxford, 4 miles E. of Lechlade, its post town, and 12 from the Farringdon Road railway station. It contains the chapelry of Little Farringdon, and the hamlets of Grafton and Radcot, in Oxfordshire, to which county the whole parish is attached for electoral purposes. The village is small, and wholly agricultural. The tithes were commuted for land and a money payment under Enclosure Acts obtained in 1808 and 1810. The living is a vicarage* with the curacy of Little Farringdon annexed, value £350, in the diocese of Oxford. The church, dedicated to. St. Mary, is an ancient edifice with a Saxon tower. The interior of the church has a brass of William Pirmes bearing date 1609. There is a chapel-of-ease at Little Farringdon. The parochial charities produce about £18 per annum. The Independents and Primitive Methodists have each a chapel."

I have tried IGI on several occasions to find out information ( I am a "silver surfer" - sorry) , but on balance of evidence, I confess that I'm a complete numpty re this, which is why I need a little help on this one, please!

Hello. I have been searching for details of my great x3 grandmother, Jane Elizabeth Day, born 1826 Langford Oxon, who married James Handford (b. 1826 Mellor Derbys) in June 1847 Stockport. I have purchased the marriage certificate, which shows Janes' s father as William Day, but the census records dont do birth certs before this date and after a lot of trawling, I still have not been able to pinpoint the one relating to my William Day as there are loads of them and I would really appreciate some help and advice re this and also if there are any siblings, as Jane is the only one in my tree.
With many thanks
Jayne
