Hi Pam

I'm a Batson and go back to 1526, I am looking at the above story, my grandfather and his brother on my mothers side Andersons where Barnardos children shiped out to Canada at the age of 14, one in 1886 and one in 1891.

Many thanks for the additional information.

The parents of William V. and Percy died in 1923 and 1924. The boys had an older sister who married in 1919 but there were 6 boys.. I guess the 3 youngest became the "responsibility" of their sister. Two went to Canada and the youngest of the family, who was 4 years old when the mother died, appears to have stayed in the UK.

Just looking at the answers that you have received, as I had the same problem with my grandfater, this sounds to me like he was a Banardos child shipped out to Canada. call or write to the Banardos society 02084987536 to make tenderive inquiries, they will then let you know if the name appears on their registar, if it do's it will cost you £100.00 to get the information they hold and it may take up to 6 months to get, but it will be worth it inclunding photo they took when he became a banardos child.
Hope this is of some help
