Find Ancestors

I am looking for any relatives of Edna May McKENZIE, married surname KING born in Casino, NSW, Australia in 1935.

Unfortunately they are all of the details I have.

Also if you look on the Records Board you will find Cherilyn is offering help with lookups in Oz

First you would need to buy her marriage certificate.

This should give you, at least, her fathers name.

Unfortunately, she married after 1959, the end of access in NSW, so buying the cert. may be more difficult.

OR you wait until next year when 'they' extend the access again.. if she married in 1960. ???

there are one in 1923 and one in 1932. The 1932 one might seem most likely: William K McKenzie to Dorothy L Grove. The 1923 marriage is, believe it or not, Gioseppe V McKenzie to Aileen Rankin. ;)

If all else fails, the death certificate should list his children, allowing you to rule him out if nothing else.

How is it that you're looking for her if all you know is her name? You must know the name of someone related to her!


Btw, if you do post in a "lookup" thread, that is actually a duplicate posting and it risks people duplicating effort, so please say so here if you are doing that, so others don't waste time on the same searches.

I have checked the electoral rolls for Casino in 1930 & 1936.

In 1930 there is one 'couple', Peter & Eliza but they look to have been married in 1897

in 1936 there are 2 'couples'
The first is James & Florence, I found them together, elsewhere, in 1930 but can not find a marriage... IF they are married & not father/daughter combo. etc..
The second is Albert James & Amelia Agnes.
I believe to be nee Burns, who were married in 1934 at Murwillumbah

In 1943, they were at 52 Farley St, Casino & Albert was a cleaner
In 1949, @ Theresa Creek, a Banana Farmer
in 1954, @ Empire Vale, a Farmer.

I have requested documents from the NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages but believe this can take weeks, if not months. Just trying to do a bit of my own homework in the meantime to see if I can come up with anything.

Possibly too late for now, but many people recommend getting a transcript of BMD info rather than the actual certificates - faster, and half the price. If you google "Joy Murrin" you'll find the service often recommended here.

Kym - you could contact the 'NSW State Library' (on-line) which has an 'Ask a Librarian' service ...they will check the (NSW) electoral rolls for you...from approximate year Edna married (1955-65+) ..... The 'Ryerson Index' (on-line) shows a couple of deaths for an 'Edna May King' but age doesn't match - though there's one shown d 8/5/2004 at 'Austin Hospital' -notice in 'Herald Sun' (Melbourne) 10/5/04. (Ryerson's will do a 'look-up' for you)...... If this is your Edna then the 'VIC State Library' will check the Victorian electoral rolls for you (pre 2004) -and possibly find her husband. ...Valerie (WA)

I have emailed the Library to see if they can assist any.

The library replied and told me they weren't able to do the search for me. I would need to visit a library myself.

I also have a possible date of birth now, 19/06/1935.

UPDATED INFORMATION.

I have since received information that Edna's parents were a Hector Alexander MacKenzie and an Annie Rita MacKenzie. I only have names, no place of birth or dates of births.

Edna was also born 19 June 1935.

Can anyone help with searching further?

I am interested in finding out as much as I can about Edna May King (nee MacKenzie) and her parents Hector Alexander MacKenzie and wife, Annie Rita Cupitt.
