Find Ancestors

I have a William born about 1815 marrying Mary Armer on 21.2.1844 in Dalton in Furness. Trouble is, I can't find them to tie them to their daughter Agnes in any census. Would like if possible to go back in time from William and Mary too. Intrigued to know how Agnes , who was born in Kirby Ireleth, managed to marry Andrew Mackenzie from Seaham in Durham. Any leads out there?
