Elizabeth

that was the second part of my complaint last night

............. helpers deleting information they have provided.

A lot of people seem to be doing it now ....... some do it if the thread starter hasn't returned to the thread (or acknowledged the info), but others just seem to do regardless even after getting a response.

It is so annoying to go onto a thread, wanting to help, to see the thread starter saying something like "xxxxxx, thank you for that information it is helpful", or "xxxxx, thank you, but I don't think that is my family" ............... but the relevant posting has gone.

How the h*** is another helper supposed to know what has been found without repeating the search again?

I do know who some of the worst offenders are, but there seem to be several others copying them.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Clitheroelass Report 6 May 2010 08:45

Its so annoying i went back to add more and it had gone, no thanks or anything to let me know wether it was of any help.

please if people leave you information dont delete it straight away you or we the helpers may need it at a later date for reference to what has been searched so that it is NOT DUPLICATED

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 6 May 2010 06:41

I know, it's really annoying when that happens!!

I think many people don't realise that all these threads are stored on GR's servers, not on our own computers. So they think they are releasing space on their own computers.

They don't think, or realise, that leaving the information up may help someone else in the future ...... or indeed that they might find it useful to return to a a later date to confirm information.

Some helpers also have a habit of deleting information that they have found ......... and I also find that annoying, because then I don't know what has been found or whether I am duplicating work already done!

so another moan from me!!

Clitheroelass Report 6 May 2010 06:07

Im going to have a moan

I have just returned some census results on this board and then return to find that the topic has been deleted! !!!

Why do i bother wasting my time and efforts on some people( minority)

and to top it off never say a thank you kiss me butt or anything

in a mood for the day lol

Regards

Tracy
