It definitely says married 17 years, and the children's ages would fit with that, so are you sure about your 1898 marriage certificate?

Hi Patricia
that is the correct 1911 census also i believe that accuring to my aunt hilda and minnie were born before they married also ...that mays them married in 1897 if it is 17 years from 1911 and i researching the marriage index for thoma bryan married to any matilda and the only one that came up is the 1898 as they were married it solihull maybe somewhere the years are missed up

Is it the correct father for Thomas on the marriage certificate?

Not having much luck trying to find Matilda Smith - was her father still alive on the marriage certificate?

Wondered if it were a late marriage as Hilda and Minnie's births not obvious under Bryan.

Hilda, Minnie and Winifred were all born in Hay Mills, which, with Yardley, all come under Solihull, I think.
So:
Births Dec 1896
Smith Minnie Maria Solihull 6d 598
Births Mar 1895
Smith Hilda Solihull 6d 605
Births Mar 1899
BRYAN Winifred Solihull 6d 652
Theory falls down with Jessie?
