Hi girls I have just noticed that Providence Hospital was in Tolver St and Woodville Street What a coincidence, my Dad was registered in 1914 from 18 Woodville Street, the home of his mother Edith. I know that it was a house cos Ive got it on the 1911 census. |

Hi somerset girl, I have just found a little bit of info on google. In the 1900s there was two other hospitals in St Helens St Mary's which was run by nuns, and Cowley Hill Hospital which was a maternity Hospital!!!! Seeing as Sister Smart was involved in some way at the birth of my father I wonder if she was at this Hospital it would be possible I supose, if you can help with this one too I would be very grateful thanks Eileen By the way how on earth did you find all that info on the Hospital, you are very clever!!!!! |

Thanks girls the list for the hospital is really good, I will study it to see if I can recognise anyone, I dont know if there was another hospital in St Helens in 1911 this is the only one I know of. That is Mary in 1901 I already have that list and it is Skerry not Kerry, Mary was my dads "adoptive mother" Well done your all brilliant regards Eileen |
