Do any of you clever poeple out there know if the nurses home at the Providence Hospital in St Helens Lancashire would have been recorded on the 1911 census? I am looking for a sister Smart, dont know her christian name, but I guess nurses would live in at the nurses home during that time. Any ideas on this one? thanks all Eileen

If she did live at the hospital maybe easier to find, but if she didnt and not knowing her name or age or whether that was her maiden/married name, I would think it would be difficult until you came accross one with occupation 'nurse'

Thanks Jax I am pretty sure she wouldnt be married cos I think in the 1900s nurses had to leave the profession when they married, also I know she was'nt with the rest of the family at the Smart family home on the 1911 census. Which was 70 Claughton Street St Helens Lancs. Its just a stab in the dark. I do have a letter from an elderly relative stating that she was involved in some way, but how I dont know. My fathers birth mother was unmarried.
