So looks like Mary was Hannah's sister. So Gilbert was almost certainly Ethel Annie's father.


Haven't found Florence Mary in 1881 yet but in 1891 she is working as a servant and her birth place is the same as Ethel's! I would be tempted to buy both those certificates as I think they are both daughters of Gilbert from his first marriage.

Can anyone help me trace my ggrandfather Gilbert Irving. In 1891 he was the Landlord of the Temperance Hotel in Hexham Northumberland but I am unable to discover who were his parents. He married a Mary Lord and had two sons.
