I've had a look on Scotlandspeople (using the free search facility) and there are only 2 Robert jenkins births registered in Falkirk in 1900. (Your Robert was 9 months old on that 1901 census). If you have a look at those births and find your Robert, the entry will give you the date and place of his parents marriage.

Credits cost £6 for 30 - 1 credit to view search result and 5 to view / download register entry. So with a bit of luck and careful searching (you can get around 23 search results to a page costing 1 credit) you may get birth entries for all 4 children (if they were all born in Falkirk) and also the parents marriage entry for your £6.

have just checked - there are only 22 Jenkins births in Falkirk between 1894 and 1900.

Maybe Alexander in 1891?? His marriage certificate will give his parents.

What dates do you have? It's easy to go down the wrong track.

If that 1901 census is correct, and it looks likely as Jacqueline has listed the children in the same order that they appear on the census, then there is only one marriage in Scotland between a John Jenkins and an Elizabeth between 1891 and 1901 and that is in 1894. It is not in Stirlingshire though. All the children and both parents on that census give their birth place in Stirlingshire.

There are a few other with the same family. They have Elizabeth down as ms McPherson.

Marion, I agree about how easy it is to go down the wrong road as it looks like all those Jenkins in Falkirk are related to one another. They seem to use the same family names.

I think the first thing that Jacqueline has to do is get at least one of the children's birth entries to confirm the parents names and their date and place of marriage. This would in turn confirm Alexander and Elizabeth's parents.

I do hope that she comes back to the thread to give us her comments.
