You'll be pleased to know that with your all your help I've been able to fill up much more of my tree!! It's great to now know where to start, & the Mormon free site is brilliant.
Once I realised that the dob was earlier for Robert Ardern [1847] everything else fits in. I think I've found his wife, Esther & all her siblings! Plus Esther's parents William Carline & Sarah.Fantastic! Still researching Jane & Willie... So good to know something of Grandma's background, the Ardern bunch.

Hi Seaham , Good work... & a big thanks . Just maybe!!! Jane did get married & this is My Jane. I'll have to find something to support this but it is VERY promising.

Let me try again, Pauline.

You have *two* threads about John Turner and family - one about him, one about his children, that it makes no sense to separate.

You have *two* threads about the question in *this* thread, which is what I referred to in *this* thread.

That I know of.

(You can use the addresses I give to see which threads I am talking about. You have decided to misunderstand *both* of my posts about *both* of these duplications -- my post about the Turner threads was not about the Ardern threads, and my post here about the Ardern threads was not about the Turner threads.)

Just out of curiosity....even just to eliminate.....you say that the photo seems to indicate that Eva and Jane look pretty similar in age.........and we know that Eva married in Hayfield in 1910...........well, there's a marriage for a Jane Ardern in 1907 to Austin Wigley in Hayfield and in the 1911 census (sorry, don't have creits to view the full transcription) there are ...............
Austin Roe Wigley
Jane Wigley born 1886
Irving Roe Wigley born 1908
John Roe Wigley born 1910
These are all in the Hayfield district
Could be Eva's sister................worth a look ?????? Just a suggestion

Hi!Janey,

I trust you have noted my explanation as well, regarding my separate quest for Father's cousins in the Turner family.

I do appreciate the kindness of these volunteer researchers doing their best to help me about Robert Ardern & his ancestors, whichever path they go about it.

Pauline, what is "I'll see what happens with the threads that have come in. Thanks"?

I know of the thread on the ancestral John Turner of Hayfield:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1217747

There aren't others, are there?

Hm, well, there's an entire thread about what seems to be the same question:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1187832

Anything new in this one, or just people doing the same old same old all over again?

Hello Maureen,

I just wrote you a long note & lost it, pain!
I think it is Jane who is on an old photo with Grandmother Eva & Dad [Leonard] who's the one year old baby.Photo taken in 1911. Don't know anything else about Jane but she looks the same age as Grandmother, early 20s.They were beautiful ladies!! I don't think she married., maybe died at a fairly young age?

Robert was an architect or similar responsible for designing / overseeing the construction of cloth mills in Malone, North France, hence the French connection!! GrandMother was with the family in France t'il she ws about 16 when they returned by boat via Dover UK.

Fritz Turner & Eva Ardern were married in Hayfield Church in1910, sorry don't have a certificate.

Thanks for the good idea re.John Willie's birth certificate.

MaureeninNY Report 21 Apr 2010 13:35

I don't see the Ardern family on any other census. Do you have any idea when/where Jane was born or whom she married?

Also-do you have Fritz and Eva's marriage certificate to see what Robert's occupation was?

It might be worth purchasing John Willie's birth cert to see who is listed as the mother. (not proof positive that it would be Eva's mother, but it would help in tracing them.)

Good luck.

Oh! Thanks so much, Victoria. I think you have found Grandmother Eva's Brother, Willie, that's so good. It is so much fun to actually see their name come up!

Thanks for your comment Seaham. I was Soo puzzled at that but it makes sense now, wrongly transcribed for Grandfather Fritz. I still want to discover more about the Ardern link, Fritz' wife Eva's Parents of which I only know he was Robert Ardern. I guess Robert was born about 1860s in Derbyshire/ Cheshire. And Eva's brother & sister, place & dob.

Thaks for trying, Maureen. Yes! you have my Grandmother, but I still can't find our much about Robert Ardern , her father,His wife & her siblings Jane & William/Willie.

I'll see what happens with the threads that have come in. Thanks

Hi Pauline,
When and where was Eva born?

Pauline Report 21 Apr 2010 01:34

Robert Ardern c1861 was my Great Grandfather. Would love to know the name of his wife & something of his family tree. Please can you help me? His children were Eva,[ my Grandmother] Jane & William/Willie. Have no details for Jane & Willie, also. Think Willie died young.

Thanks so much. Pauline
