Richard was born at Pound Farm in Stanley, Wiltshire.
It is still there if you Google it.

They are obviously a Warwick family, but where was John born? I assume you have his birth cert as you have his parents' names?

These are the only ones coming up for John Gale born in Warwickshire between 1850 and 1865

Not sure where he was born
I have never found his birth Certificate.

Richard's father was John Gale about 1799 born in Kington St Micheal Chippenham

Then how have you come by Harriet's name? I suspect your information is incorrect. Also, how do you know his father's birthplace?

Were all the Children born in Warickshire or were any born in Wiltshire?

Yes Simon it is the 1861Census and it states that John was born in Plaistow Essex but I think it should be shoud be Sussex?

Plaistow is in East London, Essex,

Some of the Gales did move to East London from Wiltshire.
Perhaps he was born at his Grandparents.

I think you'll find that Plaistow Marsh was in Plaistow which back then would have come under Essex & not Sussex
