just started looking for this person he was born around 1860 in leipzig in germany. he was the son of a lawyer and ran away from home between the ages of 12 and 14 as he didnt want to join the family solicitors. he joined the navy (we think) and ended up in south america where he travelled to the west coast of america during the gold rush years and nearing the end on the 1800's he arrived in darlington in england on a stolen passport of the surname Sandford, where he married a margaret reese born in 1882, he married her in 1900 and had 3 children between 1901 and 1906. he was imprisoned in inturnment between 1914 and 1918. and when he returned to darlington he found his wife had died of starvation aged just 29yrs, |
