My 3xGt. Grandfather married an Elizabeth and had approx 7 children almost all baptised in Wellington Shrop.
He appears on 1851 age 90 living with his son in Kingswinford Staffs. He also appears on 1821 Wellington census
His place of birth on 1851 is given as Stoke on Tern - Shrop.
Has anyone any details of his parents or wife Elizabeth please
What looks like his first child was baptised 1794 so marriage could be near this date any help most welcome

Colin..the only marriage that is anywhere near the right date is.

RICHARD COLLEY 07.01.1788..to ELIZABETH CHALONIA at Madeley Shropshire..not too far from Wellington..

Thanks Derek,
Yes have that from IGI but children from 1788 to 1791 look odd ( name wise - biblical ) . Children 1794 on begin with Richard ( father's name ) as you would expect also children Elizabeth 1807 to Margaret 1812 appear with parents on 1812.
Elizabeth Challenor was I admit born in Stoke on Tern (IGI ) but would be only 15/16 in 1788, I know legal but unusual?
Thanks for your input and I wish I could convince myself you were correct.

My husband is a direct decendant of Richard Colley born 1763 Stoke on Tern.Shown sometimes as Stoke on Trent.Married Elizabeth Chaloner 7/1/1788in Madely Shropshire.He had 6 children Richard b1794,John b1796,Wellington.Sarah b 1803,Ann born1805,Jane b 1810and Margaret b1812.My husband is decended from Richard who married Catherine Purcell9/6/1818 in Dawley MagnaShrop and had 4 children.I have all the family from then onwards.Please contact me if you would like access to my tree.
